FROM THE GM elcome to the Magazine of the new Newport Beach Country Club! In its inaugural edition, NBCC magazine is designed to entertain our members and their guests with more features, more long-form content, more pictures, and contributions from some of our leading local business partners. The new magazine demonstrates a new era and a new commitment to excellence at your club.

This summer season we encourage our members to take full advantage of all that the new club has to offer. We are dedicated to creating memorable adventures for years to come, and this fantastic new clubhouse now paired with our beloved golf course has resulted in a world class club on par with the very best in California and the rest of the county.

The club has long presented a beautifully maintained golf course, and course superintendent Ron Benedict and his staff have worked tirelessly in 2016 to bring about the fantastic conditions we’ve seen this year. Ron’s greens are the best in the county, and the work

done on the fairways over the winter has resulted in velvety landing areas and made-to-order lies, perfect for shaving strokes off those handicaps. Learn more about Ron Benedict and his long-term improvement plan for the golf course in this inaugural issue.

Speaking of handicaps, Carlo Borunda and his golf professional staff are at the ready to help work the kinks out of those swings and

get the ball on Ron’s short grass more often. Stop by the golf shop to arrange a private lesson, and while doing so check out the pool table and do some shopping for those unfortunate friends and neighbors that can only dream of a membership at NBCC. Retail

Manager Tammy Kern has added several new lines of high-end golf and athletic apparel for men and women in our expanded and improved golf shop.

Food and Beverage Manager Daniel Daoud has joined long-time Executive Chef Lonnie Shepard to unveil “Seahorse Grille,” the

club’s signature dining location on the second floor. It is no overstatement to say that the combination of Lonnie’s food with Daniel’s sophisticated service technique presented in the casually elegant ambience of the Seahorse Grille results in a club dining location

with no equal. A celebration of the Newport Beach lifestyle occurs five nights weekly in the club’s smashing new restaurant that our members will be enjoying for years to come. Cheers!

Lastly, NBCC promotes a healthy lifestyle and Recreation Manager Natalie Bernal is here to help with private trainers, yoga and

pilates classes, and anything else fitness and wellness-related. Look forward to Natalie’s own boxing workout classes, and in short order Natalie will be opening the NBCC Aquatic Center for lap swimming, kids swim lessons, and poolside fun for the whole family.
