With the great summer weather comes a welcome wave of musical fun. There are plenty of club shows taking place at the moment, but the warm temperatures also lend themselves to larger outdoor events, with a number of festivals in the near future. From free happenings to fundraisers, blues and hip-hop to rock and country, there is something on offer here for just about everyone.
• The San Diego Blues Festival will be held Sept. 11, 2021. Embarcadero Marina Park North. It is at the foot of Kettner Boulevard. With Larkin Poe, Rick Estrin & The NightCats, The Nikki Hill Band, The Fremonts, Tia Carroll and Tracy Lee Nelson. The event is a fundraiser for the San Diego Food Bank • The 40th Annual Adams Avenue Street Fair takes place along Adams Avenue, September 18 & 19. Free and all ages. • Untappd Beer Festival happen Oct 1 - Oct 3. Although the event is beverage oriented, it does include music from the
Vegabonds, Arson Dailey • The Blended Festival (wine & music) is set for Oct 15 & 16 at Spanish Landing Park, Embarcadero Marina Park North, with a roster that includes The Chainsmokers, Nelly, Jowell Y Randi and many more • Musical instruments not performers are the focus of the aptly named Guitar Lovers Festival taking place November 6 & 7 at the Liberty Station Conference Center. On hand will be the work of top Luthiers, with the fest’s mission being “to showcase and market the beauty and the craftsmanship of guitars, ukuleles, banjos and other stringed instruments, gear, amps and accessories.” Guitar makers from around
• The Inaugural OB Blues Fest is happening on Sunday Nov 7th at 2 PM at Winston’s in OB. The all-star lineup includes Casey Hensley, Sue Palmer and her Motel Swing Orchestra, Manzanita Blues, Robin Henkel, Michele Lundeen and more • Wonderfront is back! The downtown San Diego multi-stage music festival is happening November 19 -21. Look for 80 artists to perform on 7+ stages, with more details tba at press time, but exciting news nonetheless! www.wonderfrontfestival.com
