Principal Brian Jones is an accomplished education professional who enrolled to earn his Doctorate in Urban Education in 2014 as the fourth degree for his field. He is devoted to helping students however he can and he’s fully bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
Since beginning his career, Principal Brian Jones has earned an excellent reputation. He accepted his first teaching job in New York City, eventually becoming the English as a Second Language (ESL) leader. Later, he “became one of the founding teachers at the Urban Assembly for History and Citizenship for Young Men in the Bronx.�
“I moved back to my hometown of Baltimore City [in 2008],” said Mr. Jones, “and became a principal for an alternative high school called Baltimore Community High School. I was the founding principal for students who were 16-21 that dropped out of school or students who were just released from jail. I had to re engage them in education and help them to earn credits to graduate.”
Mr. Jones stayed with Baltimore Community High School between 2008 and 2011. There, he maintained an excellent reputation and helped “provide leadership, professional development and evaluative feedback for English, Science, History, Foreign Language and Mathematics departments to ensure instructional alignment with Baltimore City Curriculum and state standards.�
In July of 2011, Mr. Jones accepted a role as Principal for another school in need of aid. “Finally, I became the principal of a failing school called Guilford Elementary/Middle,” Principal Brian Jones continued. “I turned around the school. I kept the attendance rate above state approval of 94% for eight years. I decreased the suspensions and supported struggling teachers. I was the principal for 2010 – 2016.”
