Archival objects 500 x 500 cm / 100 x100 cm Aleksander Sahr is a fashion designer - turned multidisciplinary textile artist working and living in Oslo. Sahr’s body of work spans traditional fashion collections to installation works and mediated performance art. Holding a master’s degree in Aesthetics from Oslo Metropolitan University and a bachelor’s degree in clothing and costume design from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Sahr views garments as forming a rich visual apparatus for communication governed by situated tacit knowledge ingrained in human culture.

Sahr’s work deliberately interrupts our perception of norms and conventions; it lays bare hidden boundaries in breaking unwritten ‘rules’ of fashion and dress. In his work, Sahr warps, subverts and challenges these conventions in a play with fashion’s social codes.
