Tuck In
The Wharf
When we think of seafood caught fresh from the ocean on our doorstep, we think of The Wharf. It’s been serving the best local seafood to the tourists and locals of Broome for over 25 years, and it continues to do so in its new location along Sanctuary Drive.
Having relocated to the hub of Cable Beach, The Wharf is just a 10-minute stroll from the beach, so you can smell the ocean air as you dine on the best it can provide. Think classic crispy fish and chips, to wild caught barramundi or threadfin salmon, to a fantastic feast of Kimberley mud crab.

At the new venue you can enjoy the cool, air-conditioned interior seating, surrounded by lush indoor plants. Or take in the fresh air on the outside deck, spacious and shaded with a cool breeze blowing though.
Sit back and peruse the well-thought-out wine list, carefully chosen to pair well with seafood.
The modern bar with specialist spirits and house crafted cocktails add to the ambience and complement their Japanese inspired daily specials – including their delicious sashimi that is fresh and delicate.
Chef Hau Duong has 20 years’ experience in hospitality. Prior to joining The Wharf, where he has been the chef for eight years, he was on the team of the Italian restaurant in The Reverie Hotel, a highly esteemed luxury 5-star hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.
He recommends you try the grilled barramundi with the chilli sambal soy sauce.
“The dish looks simple but includes everything from the freshness local fish to very famous but unique sambal soy sauce, and all just comes together perfectly,” he says.
This ethos complements the restaurant motto perfectly, being The Way Seafood Should be’ Fresh, Local, Simple’.
For something unique to The Wharf, we recommend you also try their famous barramundi wings or a whole crispy reef fish, which are both delicious.
And you can’t go wrong with the fresh oysters, which are prepared five different ways – natural served with lemon wedges; wakame seaweed with a zesty soy; Kilpatrick with finely chopped crispy bacon; Japanese panko oysters with a delicious wasabi mayo; and unique to The Wharf is their ginger soy shallot sauce. Try them all to find your favourite.
Make sure you’re there in the afternoon to make the most of the daily happy hour from 2pm to 5pm, where oysters are half price. 4 Sanctuary Road, Broome. Call (08) 9192 5700.
Dragonfly Caf
Settle in on one of the wicker chairs under the shade of the street-side rotunda or escape the heat inside this bright and welcoming café for a fresh and healthy meal to start the day.
It’s all-day breakfast menu is extensive and extremely tempting... Try Dragonfly’s ‘Eat Pray Love’ dish for a fresh and wholesome green bowl packed with grilled snow peas, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, avocado, halloumi, poached eggs and quinoa. The ‘Bit Posh’ mushrooms with wilted spinach, rocket, goat cheese, poached eggs, home-made dukkah and Italian glaze on sourdough is another standout. Or there’s the classic ‘Broome’ big breakfast, ‘Mr. Benedict’ with a choice of bacon, salmon or pulled pork, the ‘Brekkie Burger’ on brioche, ‘Vegan Pancakes’ and more. That’s before we even get to the lunch menu, from 11am.
