Coastal Eco Snubfin Dolphin Cruises

Embark on a journey of discovery and delight with AOC's Coastal Eco Snubfin Dolphin Cruises. Led by our Marine Biologist, these cruises seamlessly blend education with excitement, offering guests a glimpse into the captivating world of Roebuck Bay Marine Park and Broome’s vibrant coastline dating back to the days of the dinosaurs!

Departing from either Gantheaume Beach or Entrance Point, our expert guides navigate through the rich history and landmarks of the coastline, from Gantheaume Point to Reddell Beach and around through Roebuck Bay Marine Park. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for a myriad of marine wonders, including turtles, sea snakes, dugongs, sharks, rays, migratory birds, and the Snubfin dolphin.

With Roebuck Bay serving as a bustling hub for the Snubfin Dolphins. Recent estimates put their numbers at around 140, making Roebuck Bay the go-to spot for Snubfin sightings in the Kimberley. The Snubfin dolphin was officially identified as a new species in 2005, making it the most recent addition to the dolphin family. Snubfin dolphins are highly social animals, we often seen them swimming in small groups or pods consisting of up to 10 individuals.

Three hour cruises are offered twice daily, choose from a morning cruise 9am to 12pm, or top off your eco experience with one of Broome’s spectacular sunsets on our sunset cruise 3pm to 6pm!

Our fishing addicted crew know all the best spots to hook prized catches like Spanish Mackerel, Red Emperor, Snapper and Coral Trout. Whether you opt for a half-day or full-day charter, there's ample time to cast your line and reel in the big one!

"We target species for the table such as Red Emperor, Coral Trout, Blue Line Emperor, Golden Snapper, Saddletail Perch, Rankin Cod and many more. With over 16 years of fishing the Broome waters, we have recorded 82 different species landed, so there is no shortage of variety," explains Michael Woodley.

For those seeking a challenge, there are plenty of fish to push you to the limits, including Golden Trevally, Giant Trevally and Cobia. You can also expect to see Tuna, Queenfish and Chinaman fish, but the one that holds the most interest for Michael and many of his guests is the Spanish Mackerel.

"Spanish Mackerel are a spectacle to catch. When they are on the bite it’s not uncommon for everyone to land one, and our best effort one day was 20 fish in 20 minutes. They are a delicious table fish eaten fresh and a great way to mix up a day of reef fishing," shares Michael.
