Biographies THE TEAM Rev. James Washington, Sr. (Co-Producer and Director)

Rev. James Antoine Washington, Sr. has a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Ministry. He is an Associate Minister and music director at Straightway Bible Fellowship, teaches piano lessons and is a vocal coach to area actors and actresses. He is no stranger to the theater world, his stage performances include EVITA, PINOCCHIO, BAGGAGE, THE ELVIRA SHOW, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, EDGE OF A DARK PATH, A CHORUS LINE, JELLY'S LAST JAM, ORDINARY PEOPLE, DREAM GIRLS, KILLING BLACK SUPERMAN and FIVE GUYS NAMED MO. He is best known in the Cleveland area for his starring roles at The Karamu House in THE BLACK NATIVITY and THE WIZ. He was the Musical Director for How I Got Over (A Cultural Event) written and produced by Errin Miniseries. Recently, Rev. Washington performed in the Black History show Hope From Within produced and directed by Terrence Greene, CEO and Artistic Director of the Greene Works Project and Tri-C. His directorial debut began with the play When God Speaks, written, produced and co-directed by Samantha Turner. He gives thanks and honor to God for all his talent and skills.

Paula S. Washington (Co-Producer and Assistant)

Starting JP Inner Peace Productions is an answer to a dream long held by Paula. It is a blessing to be able to combine her love for the arts and her skills to see the productions come to life on stage. Assisting behind the scenes with has been an experience. The cast and crew are wonderfully gifted individuals. It has been a pleasure getting to know and assist all of them as they made this play come to life.

James Smith (Stage Manager/Jim the Bartender)

James Smith is no stranger to the world of theater. He has appeared in numerous Karamu productions, noteworthy is his 11 performances in the legendary musical Black Nativity! He also appeared in A Play About A Play. On the other side of theater, Smith wrote the original script and appeared on stage in the Phoenix, AZ production of My Brother’s Keeper. In October 2014, He wrote and co-produced the stage play The Other Face, which was staged at the Garfield Heights Center for Performing Arts. In October 2016, James appeared in "Your Love is Killing Me." Look for James' fourth production "Bruised But Not Broken" to be presented this fall by Lioness Productions and Zae Music Inc.

Sandra Williams (Music Director)

Sandi was born in New Jersey but raised in Cleveland, Ohio. The love of her life is her son Paul A. Williams. As a graduate of University of Phoenix and John Carroll University with her degrees in education and love for life-long learning have allowed her to be the best educator she can be since 2001. She enjoys reading, singing, and watching the big and small screens in her spare time. She is delighted to be the music director with JP Inner Peace Productions. She hopes you enjoy the show!


Alicia Renee Murphy (Costumer/Wardrobe Stylist)

Alicia Renee Murphy is a Costumer/Wardrobe Stylist. She is the owner and operator of ARenee’ Styles. Alicia took her passion for fashion and style to Kent State University where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Fashion Merchandising and Minor in marketing. She was soon introduced to the world of costuming, which would accompany her passion for wardrobe styling and vintage clothing. She has costumed productions at such theaters as the historic Karamu House and Geauga Lyric Theater Guild. Alicia is excited to be creating costumes for JP Inner Peace Productions. She loves her craft and expanding her knowledge of the arts.

Rhonda Hunter (Theater Hostess)

Rhonda Hunter is new to any kind of theater work, was so happy and thrilled when asked to be a part of JP Inner Peace Productions Team. Rhonda is looking forward to working with Rev. and Mrs. James A. Washington, Sr. and wish them the Best of Everything to come. Rhonda is heavily involved with Concord Baptist Church, she is on the Praise Team, President of the Bible Study Class, Sunday School teacher and Women’s Ministry--she enjoys it all!

CAST Joshua McElroy (Bishop Theodore Allgood)

Joshua is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art. He aspires to be an actor, entertainer and a comedian. He has multiple talents other than being an artist, he is a musician, and for several years he was the leader of the Shaker Heights Improv Team, as well as a member of Case Western Reserve University’s “IMPROVment.” Josh has been in a number of plays at The Karamu House, such as The Color Purple, The Wiz, God’s Trombones. Joshua plans to study at Second City then travel to New York City in the future and pursue his dreams of becoming a Blockbuster entertainer as well as a very influential actor.

James A Washington, Jr. (Satan)

James Washington Jr. Isn’t a household name as of yet, but he enjoys acting and other arts such as poetry, music, boxing and so on. Along with participating in one of the biggest productions at the Karamu House Theater “The Wiz”, as among other characters, 1/4 of the Yellow Brick Road, James Jr. has also been in The Christmas Story, The Arch Angel, and has also co-starred in Tell Hell I Aint Comin.’. He loves the experience that acting gives him and hopes that even though acting is hard work, he always has fun in every production he is a part of. He loves his family and hopes that his children grows to be very proud of him. He leaves his words saying God Bless and God is Love!!!


Pastor Karen Barhams (Marlene)

Pastor Karen Barhams is a native of Cleveland. This ordained and licensed Minister has a passion for the word of God, music, children and for the elderly. She demonstrates these amazing God-given abilities in her everyday life having worked in nursing for nearly thirty years. Minister Karen, as she is affectionately known, spreads God’s word and works through electronic media, print, and just plain old word of mouth. Minister Karen was called into the ministry July 8, 2005. She is a Cleveland School of the Arts graduate, where she had the pleasure of working under the direction of Dr. William Woods and Lafayette Carthon. Minister Karen had the pleasure of singing on The Gospel Network of TBN and has performed at Severance Hall with the Cleveland Orchestra, Peabo Bryson, Jennifer Holliday and Ben Vereen. Minister Karen also taught gospel music to students at Orchard School of Science and Charles Mooney Middle School. She served as Minister and choir director for the children, adult and mass choir at Greater Refuge Ministry in Rome, Georgia. She is the founder of the singing group Divine Purpose and is a member of In God’s Order Performing Arts Ministry and is a domestic violence advocate. Pastor Karen accepted her call as Pastor to Believers Temple International Ministries August 2014. She is about her Father’s Business.

Bria Braxton (Briana)

Bria is a member of Diving Revelation Church of Christ. Bria enjoys singing, dancing, cheerleading and doing nails. She is a social bug and has a love for theater and the Fine Arts. Bria is a fashionista and enjoys shopping. Bria is 12 years old, in the 7th grade and attends Monticello Middle School, where she plays on the volleyball team. Her dream is to become a Pediatrician and to help doctors find the cure for cancer. This is Bria’s début as an actress with JP Inner Peace Productions.

Elder Ronn Crenshaw (Lester)

Elder Ronn Crenshaw born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he now resides. He ministers at Zion Pentecostal Church of Christ as an Associate Minister, founder of Boys2Men4JESUS an inreach/outreach ministry for young men. Bruh_Ronn operates as a psalmist, songwriter and arranger. Bruh_Ronn no stranger to the stage has played lead roles as the Scarecrow in The Wiz, Jesus in God Spell, one of the three wise men in the Karamu’s introduction of Black Nativity and S Parson all talk caribous production of Scott Joplin Opera Treemonisha. He has shared the stage with famous artists such as Donnie McClurkin, Denise Tichenor and Donald Lawrence.

Sabrina Harris (Church Usher/Nurse)

Mrs. Sabrina Harris is married to Mr. Albert S. Harris. She is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Roosevelt Suggs and a former member of Calvary Hill Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. John W. Ribbions III. She is also a graduate of Cleveland Public Schools, Martin Luther King/Law and Public Service; attended Cleveland State University where she majored in Business Administration; and majored in Early Childhood Education Service at Tri-C. She is happy to be a part of and début as an actress with JP Inner Peace Productions.


Gabriella Hedge (Crystal)

This talented young phenom started acting in theater and singing on stage at the young age of four. Gabriella Marea continued her craft throughout the years by singing in performances at school, charity events and in a small acting role in the movie Fun Sized. Gabriella enjoys writing, swimming and singing. She is JP Inner Peace Productions youngest cast member.

Rev. Kenneth James (Archangel Michael)

Rev. Kenneth S. James, an associate minister at Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, where he has been a member for the past 40 years. He has been married to Patricia for 42 years and has one son and one daughter. One God-daughter and four grandchildren. He has a Master’s Degree in Theology from the Cleveland Baptist Institute of Cleveland. Rev. James entered the ministry approximately 16 years ago. Before that, he was a Deacon at Zion Chapel and Chairman of the Trustee Board for 14 years. Rev. James is the past Director of Christian Education at Zion Chapel and is active in the Prison Ministry and the Nursing Home Ministry. He is a Field Crew Supervisor and Office Manager employed at the Henry G. Reitz Engineering Company in Cleveland since 1968. His love for Children is God-given and shows in his walk. He is a Bible Believing, God Fearing and God Trusting man of God. Although he has performed in numerous plays and skits at various churches, JP Inner Peace Productions is Rev. James’ debut performance on stage.

Jarrett Jones (Satan Worshiper)

Jarrett A. Jones was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. God blessed him with his start at Cleveland’s Historic Karamu Theatre, where he was cast in “Black Nativity” and “Little Tommy Parker.” From there, Jarrett has been blessed to travel and perform in Detroit, MI, Phoenix, AZ, Durham, NC, and Los Angeles, CA. Some of his other credits include Nike’s “Book of Dimes” commercial, ESPN documentary, Slam Bianca McElroy (Candy/Enticer) Bianca is an emerging actress from the Cleveland area and recently a first time mother. Bianca has been in a number of plays at The Karamu House, such as The Color Purple, The Wiz, and Xanadu. Bianca plans to continue studying the art of theatre so she can pursue a career in acting.

Hakeem Sharif (Minister Jones/Minister Turnaround)

Currently residing in Cleveland, Ohio. I fell in love with the Performing Arts at the tender age of 13. That was when I began auditioning and performing in stage plays. Throughout the years spent my free time developing my craft as an actor, seeking challenging dramatic and comedic roles. Enjoy playing basketball and catching a pickup game on the court whenever possible.


Shoi Smith (Mahogany/Enticer)

Shoi Smith is an established entertainer. Best known for killing it on the runway, she is also a published freelance model. She began her acting career playing supporting roles in independent films. After landing her first theatrical role in the musical “DreamGirls,” she continues to perfect her craft both on the stage and in front of the camera.

Pastor Elijah Span (Archangel Gabriel)

This is Elijah’s first experience with a professional production company. His forte is edifying believers by teaching the Word of God. As an actor, he is a fish out of water, but through God’s grace he is being stretched to demonstrate the glory of God through the medium of the Arts. Elijah, when not acting, is Pastor of Straightway Bible Fellowship (25 years), an adjunct professor and Board member of Maranatha Bible College & Institute, the husband of but one wife, Margie, and the proud father and grandfather of two beautiful daughters and granddaughters.

Traci Strozier (Church Nurse/Marlene)

Traci is a member of Divine Revelation Church of Christ. She has been singing since the age of 2. Traci enjoys spending time with her two children, friends and family. She has a youth ministry called Pure in Heart, where she provides children with an opportunity to use their gifts in the Fine Arts to encourage and bless all. Traci enjoys shopping, travelling and songwriting. This is Traci's début as an actress with JP Inner Peace Productions.

Darryl Tatum (Lucky Jack)

Darryl Tatum has appeared in numerous plays at Karamu House, including Don Evans’s One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show; God’s Trombones; Eric Schmiedl’s John Henry (Youth Theatre); Romeo and Juliet: An African Love Story; August Wilson’s Jitney, at Garden Valley Neighborhood House and August Wilson’s Radio Golf, at The Ensemble Theatre.

Arshawna Warren (Choreographer/Sis. Falsifier/ Enticer)

Arshawna Warren is a Sophomore Psychology Major and Dance Minor at Baldwin Wallace University. She has been in many productions that express both her acting and dance skills. The productions include How I Got Over (A Cultural Event) by Errin Miniseries, Liars in Fur Coats at Baldwin Wallace University, Black Nativity Choreographed by Terrence Greene, CEO and Artistic Director of the Greene Works Project and The Wiz directed by Terrence Spivey and Choreographed by Sabrina Gregory both at the Karamu Theater. Arshawna was a part of the Dance Co-Op with ArtWorks internship program under the instruction of Michael Medcalf and Aseelah Allen. She is excited to be a part of this great cast! She dedicates her performances to her mother, Paula Washington.


Carl Washington III (Mark/Satan’s Helper)

Carl Washington III is a recent grad with his bachelor’s in psychology. He plans on obtaining his masters degree in the fall. This is his first theater production and JP Inner Peace Productions is proud to have him! It is Michelle Wilkerson Guerry’s extreme honor to be cast as Sister Fairweather and as Sister Bertha-May, in the hit play “Tell Hell I Ain’t Coming,” Written by Marcia P. Samuels and Directed by Cleveland’s own . . . J. Antoine Washington, Sr.!!! MICHELLE WILKERSON GUERRY, originally became a student of the Karamu House Dance Program at the age of five (5) years old. Her acting and singing skills have allowed her to be cast in several roles in the hit production Black Nativity, written by Langston Hughes, during the 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons at the historical Karamu House Theater located in Cleveland, Ohio. Returning to the Karamu House Theater in June, 2015 -- Ms. Wilkerson Guerry has most recently completed roles as an ensemble singer, and actress in the beautifully staged productions of “Julius Ceasar: Set in Africa,” and “Dream Girls” as part of Karamu’s 100th Anniversary lineup of shows. Ms. Wilkerson Guerry has sung with the phenomenal Djapo African Drum and Dance Production (Ms. Talise Campbell, Director/Choreographer), during the 2014 and 2015 Juneteenth Celebrations in Cleveland, and the Edna Duffy Lithurgical Ensemble. She was the Grandmother (and vocalist) in the stage production, “An Unforgotten Memory, A Story Unfolded,” (Writer/Director – Kevin Marr) performed at the Cleveland Public Theater Black Box Series, 2013. She performed as an actress and ensemble singer in the 2003 to 2005 season with Play Write T.Y. Martin in Man of My Dreams,” and “Fired on My Day Off.” Ms. Wilkerson Guerry has also written and performed her own one-woman play entitled, “Crack Head,” which received outstanding reviews in 2013. As an amateur thespian, Ms.Wilkerson Guerry’s tenacious spirit and rich gospel voice, has earned her several opportunities to work with world-renowned Actors, Directors, Play Writes, Choreographers, Musicians, and a host of talented cast members. She thanks them all for teaching, and sharing their crafts with her!


Roxanne Lucas

Roxanne Lucas Actor, Dancer and Choreographer is a native of Cleveland, OH. Roxanne received a Bachelor’s Degree from Malone College in Canton OH. Roxanne began her career studying and eventually teaching dance in Cleveland, OH many years ago. Roxanne has studied dance at various Studios in Cleveland, OH. Art of Dance Academy, Lauray’s Studio of Dance, Cleveland City Dance, The Dance Studio, One More Step Dance Studio and Foluke’ Cultural Arts Center. There is where she learned Jazz, African, Modern, Lyrical and Ballet under several professional instructors. She later was under the tutelage of Phyllis Locke-Johnson who is the founder and director of Anointed Dance Ministries/ADM of Columbus, OH. Roxanne was a Minister of Dance for Anointed Dance Ministries/ADM for 8 years where she severed as a Principle Dancer. In 2005 Pneuma Dance Company was conceived by Roxanne, she is the Founder, Executive Artistic Director and Minister of Dance. Roxanne is a dance instructor at the YMCA in Warrensville, OH. Roxanne has choreographed and danced at several venues, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, TCT Cable Station, The Cleveland Cavaliers Q- Stadium and has debuted in the Karamu production The Color Purple Production as a principle dancer, dance captain and ensemble actor, How I Got Over – A Cultural Journey of Faith as a Dancer/Team Captain and actor. Roxanne severed under the tutelage of Mr. Terrence Greene for several years and was honored to be asked to join the cast of Coming of The King with The Greene Works Production as a Dancer/Team Captain and actor, The Wizard of OZ/the WIZ at the Karamu Theater as Citizen #1, Poppy, Winkie, Emerald city actor and dancer and Team Lead to the Choreographer of the Wiz Sabrina Gregory. Roxanne has made her 1st film debut The Man in the Box written by Mary Weems and directed by Terrence Spivey. She was honored to be among the awesome actor/newscaster Leon Bibb, former county commissioner/actor Peter Lawson Jones who instilled her with their wisdom. Roxanne received a principle role in the Hit Production Dream Girls as Michelle Morris and Principle Dancer. Sheritta Perry (Searching Mother) Sherrita is a single mother, cosmetologist and an Early Learning Educator. She is making her theater debut with JP Inner Peace Productions. Michelle (Sis. Our Mission: The mission of JP Inner Peace Productions is to develop and create a Spiritual awareness through theater, instruction, and gifts that God has given us in a Christian understanding. Our Vision: Our vision is to educate the people of God in Spiritual understanding through various productions, workshops, and seminars. Our Inspiration: “Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:11 First of all, we would like to thank God for the cast He delivered to us. We are so thankful for the gifts and talents God has given to each of you. We believe that God put the right people, at the right time, with the right attitudes, in the right place, in order for this production to be successful. We are grateful to the production team that has deligently helped to put “Tell Hell I Ain’t Coming” onto the stage. Congratulations to all of you for your effots and hard work.
