Jumbo Reservoir

Located six miles west of Sedgwick, the 1,500-acreJulesburg Reservoir; is known to locals as “Jumbo” and the best place to fish, boat, water ski, and camp. Services include boat ramps, shelters, and restrooms. A valid Colorado hunting or fishing license or State Wildlife Area pass is required for everyone 16 or older accessing the SWA; these can be purchased online at CPWshop.com or by calling 800-244- 5613.

South Platte River Trail

TheSouth Platte RiverTrail is the shortest of Colorado’s26byways. Begin the trail at the Colorado Welcome Center at Julesburg, and follow the 19-mile loop with interpretive signage at the original Julesburg townsite, the location of Colorado’s only Pony Express home station, and Fort Sedgwick, established in 1864 to protect thetrail and telegraph line. Additional markers commemorate the other three Julesburg townsites,the Transcontinental Railroad, and the Lincoln Highway —the first coast-tocoast automobile road in the United States.

Old Ford Garage

The Old Ford Garage, a collection of antique Ford vehicles, signage and gas pumps, is housed in a former city garage in Julesburg.

Exploreaprivately owned collection of antiqueFordvehicles, signage, and gravity-fed gas pumps. The sights, sounds, and smells of this one-time city garage will bring you back to a bygone era. This museum, one of three operated by the Fort Sedgwick Historical Society in Julesburg, is volunteer-run and hours can vary. Visitors are encouraged to call ahead to ensure a volunteer docent is available. Please call 970-474-2061 prior to your visit.

Julesburg Dragstrip

The Julesburg Dragstripisthe oldest NHRAtrack inthe United States in its original location. The strip is located offUS-138 west of Julesburg.
