McGuckin Hardware was founded in 1955. The hardware store has over 150,000 items in 18 different departments spread across 60,000 square feet of ‘anything you can imagine.’ “We hope we were named ‘best’ because of our efforts in personalized customer service, advice and product selection. Our features, products and services have not changed much from the previous year, besides the constant influx of new items that we bring in to keep our stock fresh. We also try and host fun, hands-on Saturday activities, which we call ‘Shoppertainment.’ Otherwise, we’re just focusing on the tried and true model of ‘face-to-face interactions’ that built our business from the ground up,” says Steve Wilke, marketing communications. Wilke said, “We’re very grateful for and indebted to our wonderful customers for their continued support. We take pride in being Boulder’s favorite ‘everything’ store, and we cannot thank our customers enough!”

Hurdle’s Jewelry

1402 Pearl Street, Boulder, 303.443.1084, hurdlesjewelry.com

Boulder’s oldest and longest standing jewelry store has been a family affair for over 70 years. Owner Keith Hurdle is the third generation to run the store and his daughter is following his footsteps as the fourth generation. He said, “We are involved in the community; we are a part of the city that got us to where we are today.” He believes the quality of service separates Hurdle’s from everybody else. “It’s so important for us to give people the proper experience from the minute they walk in the door. I employ people who have empathy, who listen to what people want, who figure out their perspective and help them get the right answers. We want

to engage people and help them with what they need. That’s true through every aspect of what we do. Even me – I’m always learning even after being here for 40 years. I appreciate everything people have done to make us Boulder Best,” Hurdle said. “They trust us and we do the best we can for them. We appreciate everyone who stepped forward to vote for us.” Runner Up: Art + Soul Gallery, 1615 Pearl Street, Boulder, 303.544.5803, artandsoulboulder.com

CU students and Boulder residents named Christina’s Luxuries as Boulder Best this year for the outstanding collection of lingerie, loungewear, sleepwear and swimwear with such high-end brand names as Simone Perele, Marie Jo, Cosabella. Barbara Wilson, owner and manager, said, “We have something for everybody and our customer service is second to none. Each woman who works here is a personal shopper all across the board. We’d be nothing without our customers. It is fabulous to live and work in this town.”

Hazel’s puts a radically different spin on the liquor store. The locally owned store has over 12,000 selections with 76 cooler doors filled to the brim with macro and micro beers and everything in between. There is wide aisle after wide aisle of wines from around the world and a climate-controlled cellar. Hazel’s has spirits of every kind, from absinthe to tequila, from bourbon to vodka and Boulder’s best cigar humidor. “Hazel’s is a large store that’s fun to visit.
