Hearing the word dentist often conjures up thoughts of pain, fear and bleeding gums (Looking at you non-flossers). But for the patients of Dr. Richard Waterman (DDS), pain and fear aren’t words they associate. Even the bleeding gums can be prevented with regular flossing.
Voted best dentist, Waterman makes patients comfortable and at ease with the office’s casual and fun atmosphere, as well as respect and exceptional care. Waterman is a Greeley native who graduated from Greeley West High School. “I am very proud and honored to serve the dental needs of the community in which I grew up in,” he said. Waterman graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dentistry and then completed a year of advanced training at Denver General Hospital. In October 2000, he returned home and took over Dr. Dale Coleman’s practice. “It’s an awesome job. You get to work with your hands, which I love. It’s a lot of problem solving. I’m always trying to think of solutions to different problems while working with people. I’ve been blessed,” he said. He also credits his team of dental hygienists, chairside assistants and office manager with his success. “I’ve got an incredible team around me. Waterman is affiliated with the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association and the Weld County Dental Association. He performs general, restorative and cosmetic dental services. On how he performs those services, Waterman said, “Skill and compassion go hand in hand when providing exceptional patient care. As a dental professional I stay up to date on the latest advancements in dentistry in order to provide the most current treatment options for my patients. As a doctor, I recognize that my patients are unique individuals who have placed a great deal of trust in me and my team. That is just one reason why I value each and every patient relationship. “You have to be totally empathetic and always put yourself in their shoes.” In his spare time he enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with his wife and three daughters, golfing, swimming, fishing, mountain biking and other cardio exercise.

Drew Anderson has spent five years training clients at Team Tom Fitness in Greeley. He’d been involved in fitness and competitive power lifting when he had an opportunity to start working at the gym, and as he says, he went with it.
The ASFA and NASM-CPT Certified personal trainer is a former member of the U.S. Army Military Police Corps, a deep-sea oil field diver and a powerlifting state record holder in the Master 1/242-pound class. Anderson specializes in boot camp training, powerlifting, strength and conditioning, weight loss, and overall physical preparedness training. On the gym webpage it says that “through encouragement, personalized attention, and challenge, [Anderson] takes his clients toward their goals, whether they are competitive or looking for increased overall health and fitness.”
Anderson also has a degree in sport and exercise science, and does personal training on the side, working around his full-time job. But working with his clients and training others is a source of joy for him. “I love the interactions,” he says. “Having fun with the clients and helping them realize the goals they set and make them happen is the best part.” He trains between 10 and 15 clients at Team Tom, teaches four Bootcamp classes a week and works as a trainer for the Colorado Dance Collective. More than simply exercise, Anderson works with his clients on conditioning, recovery and nutrition. “It’s a quality of life issue,” Anderson says of personal fitness. “Good health. Good nutrition. Your quality of life and overall joy in life will be so much better.”
Anderson’s advice for those wanting to start a new path of health and nutrition is this, “The first step is to get yourself a trainer. They can guide you through taking those first steps and guide you in the right direction so you’re not overdoing it. I see people who have never worked out before go crazy their first day and not realize how all the little pieces of this fit together and then they never come back.”
