It’s like an estate sale that never ends. The Amazing Garage Sale is open seven days a week, and owner Judi Lesta has been keeping the ever-changing marketplace alive for 12 years. “We’re always adding Danish modern and mid-century furniture plus lots of estate jewelry,” says Lesta, who also scouts retro-cool home décor, art and other treasures and stores them in her five warehouses. Her work is consuming, but Lesta’s knowledgeable and passionate presence is part of the experience at this truly one-of-a-kind paradise for creative shoppers. “Besides working 24/7, I am dedicated. It’s my life,” says Lesta. “I offer extreme personal service. Customers are friends and they know that.” The shop is intended and staged to sell carefully selected items at affordable prices. “We don’t take in things that clutter the store. We don’t take consignments that we mark down and eventually give back to the consignor or donate,” explains Lesta. “We only take in things we know will sell—and pretty fast.” She stresses that The Amazing Garage Sale is not a thrift store. And that concept works perfectly for the Boulder market. “People want a bargain and they also want quality,” says Lesta. Buying recycled wares is another important attraction at this endless estate sale. And for honest customers who are in love with an Eames chair that they know will be snatched up, but can’t afford on the spot, Lesta allows tabs. She says, “We don’t charge any interest. We basically trust them on a payment schedule that suits their needs.”
