What you need to know about the YMCA The YMCA is a nonprofit organization. We are the only nonprofit fitness facility in the Pikes Peak Region. Last year, we gave away over one million dollars in scholarships, and we never turn anyone away due to an inability to pay. Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Our core values are caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Health Programs/Personal Training

Branches/Outdoor Pools

We measure the success of our cause in three areas of focus: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

What members say about the Y: “The Y works with me financially and allows my family and I to get a great price on all membership services and activities for my daughter. It helps so much to know we have somewhere to go to stay active where I can afford to bring my daughter as a single parent.”

“I appreciate the value for what I pay for, the unpretentious atmosphere, and most importantly: the community of friends that I have through the Y. We support each other through the messiness of life.”

MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO The Y...so much more. These are the words I often find myself sharing with individuals throughout the communities we serve. Yes, we offer health and wellness options across the region at all of our current eight Y locations. We operate over 20 pools/bodies of water teaching young and not-soyoung to be safe around water. We provide team-oriented activities such as basketball, baseball, volleyball for young people. But did you know the Y is the largest childcare provider in the region? That your Y collaborates and partners with well over 200 organizations throughout the Pikes Peak Region with a purpose of serving the ever-changing needs of the community? That the Y operates a teen center for alternative high school students, building self-confidence and esteem and helping to provide Boyd Williams a vision of a strong and successful future for the students? That the Y is one of the leading President & CEO organizations locally serving military men and women in uniform and their families, with the ultimate goal of making life easier? That the Y operates the City of Colorado Springs Senior Center, serving thousands of aging men and women and providing opportunities improving the quality of life? These are just a few examples of the “so much more” that often gets overlooked. Your Y is working hard every day to serve this community in ways that have not been addressed before. Thank you for considering the Y to be your trusted, local community organization serving your individual and family needs. Together, we can make a difference! In Service,

Boyd Williams President/CEO

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Throughout Colorado Springs, Falcon, Fountain and Monument, the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region serves over 112,000 people in the community with over 1,000 dedicated staff members and volunteers. One of the nation’s largest nonprofit organizations, the Y is so much more than a gym. We’re a cause, dedicated to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. From exercise to education, volleyball to volunteerism, swim lessons to scholarships, the Y is here for all. The Y doesn’t just strengthen our bodies, it strengthens our community.

Annual Support Campaign No one is ever turned away from the YMCA. As an organization for all, the Y works tirelessly to improve the health and well-being of our neighbors, regardless of their financial circumstances. Where others put up barriers, the Y opens doors and finds ways for the entire community to access live-changing programs and support. But this simply wouldn’t be possible without you! It is because of our generous donors and champions that the Y can meet its call to be for all.

Drowning Prevention Not only did we invent swim lessons, we ensure that they are affordable and accessible to all children in our community. Because of our Safety Around Water program, which began in the summer of 2016, 300 low-income children who had little to no experience in water now know exactly what to do should they fall into a pool. These lessons are offered free of charge because of generous supporters who believe wholeheartedly that all children should know how to swim.

Creating Connectivity for Youth and Teens El Paso County has one of the highest teen suicide rates in the nation. At the Y, we believe programs aimed at teens and children can play a critical role in helping to halt this shocking trend. This year, we expanded our Middle School Initiative to include 6th, 7th and 8th graders – providing not only a free Y membership but a safe space to be after school every day, with a hot meal, trained staff, and people who genuinely care about their health and well-being. Your support means that these programs, and so many more, are affordable and accessible for all members of our community. Join us in our cause to strengthen the foundation of our community today by donating today!

A Continuum of Quality Care Human health, growth and performance exist along a spectrum from high risk to high performance. Through our partnerships in health care and access to versatile community resources, we are able to create a wellness program that meets your employees where they are along the continuum toward well-being. Our program encourages healthy lifestyles through a menu of programs, education, and wellness challenges promoting the greatest impact for your employees. The result is a better bottom line, increased productivity and a happier workplace that supports the well-being of each employee’s mind, body and spirit.

Our Process As a relationship-centric wellness program, we take partnership seriously. Standing upon two of the YMCA pillars, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility, the health of your organization is a shared responsibility between you, the YMCA and your employees. Our process begins by meeting with leadership in order to learn more about your organizational needs. We then allow your employees to voice their opinions and present their greatest obstacles to well-being. When we understand what you and you team are looking to achieve, what resources you need, and how to best deliver experiences to your staff, our team develops a unique and affordable program designed to meet your expressed goals.

According to a Harvard Business Review study, a comprehensive, strategically designed investment in employees’ social, mental, and physical health pays off. A few case studies mention anywhere between $1.41 - $6.00 ROI for every dollar spent.

“Our employer-sponsored wellness program is a huge benefit. I am supported to tackle mental, relational or even spiritual challenges and live a more fulfilling life that is congruent with my values.” - Amber

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL IMAGINE. INVENT. INSPIRE. The Y. It’s where you belong.

The Y’s Before & After School Child Care program expands learning beyond the classroom. Children are celebrated for their uniqueness and provided with multiple opportunities for growth and development through a variety of activities. Children are natural-born engineers, who tend to be fascinated by building things and taking things apart to see how they work. Our goal is to expand on their learning by emphasizing the engineering design process, which is a methodical approach to problem seeking, and encourages children to start by asking a question, imagine possibilities, plan a course of action, execute the plan and then brainstorm how to improve. Though often affiliated with just science and math, the engineering design process can be applied to meet a variety of child interests. The following nine exploratory components will be integrated into the program throughout the school year: 21st Century Skills, the Arts, College and Career Readiness, Family and Parent Engagement, Global Learning and Inclusion, Health and Wellness, Academic Enrichment, Leadership Development and Service Learning. Homework assistance, snack and physical activity are provided daily. We aim to create an inclusive environment at each of our sites that supports self-confidence, encourages creativity, emphasizes teamwork and develops future leaders. We serve school districts throughout El Paso County from Fountain to Monument. Go to ppymca.org/beforeandafter for more information

YOUTH SPORTS Our sports programs develop more than skills – they develop character. Sports participation keeps children physically active and provides them with positive development opportunities. We promote the development of each athlete so they can reach their highest potential through skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship. Honoring the Y’s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, our volunteer coaches focus on developing character as much as building athletes. We believe teamwork and cooperation are keys to success. To learn more visit ppymca.org/sports

“Since I began working with a personal trainer, I’ve lost 55 pounds, I’m off of one of my maintenance medications, and arthritis no longer slows me down. My trainer puts together workouts that challenge me to work harder than I think I can, and he’s always in my corner to encourage me. I’ve made more lasting progress working with the YMCA’s trainers and staff than I would have made on my own.” - Vicki
