Saving resources while boosting all efficiencies

KHS presented its diverse portfolio of resourceconserving systems to promote the circular economy at interpack.

The company’s Innopack Kisters Nature MultiPack (NMP) machine took centre stage, billed as one of the most sustainable types of secondary packaging on the market. It joins beverage cans or PET bottles together to form stable packs with just a few dots of adhesive – without any additional outer packaging whatsoever. Saving up to 90% in materials, this technology is now available with a new universal adhesive which is applicable to practically all outer coatings on both aluminium and tin cans. The one-fits-all system is designed to make it easier for numerous beverage producers to convert to NMP. Visitors to the stand could discuss the carbon calculator tools developed by KHS to help customers determine the optimum packaging format in terms of sustainability.

Smart solution can automate repetitive packing processes

FlexLink unveiled a new solution it has developed for co-packers and eCommerce at interpack.

FlexLink believes it is revolutionising automated material handling solutions with BRIXX, as it enables companies to respond flexibly to changing consumer trends. Co-packing and eCommerce companies need to respond to the increasing demand for higher differentiation and personalisation options, which is where the BRIXX concept comes in.

we provide our customers with guidance and help them in their decision to buy by directly comparing different packaging systems.”

KHS also presented its modular automation systems for format changeovers during the packaging of beverage cans and PET bottles as well as the new Innopal PLR high-performance palletiser which helps to further boost efficiency at the end of a line.

The latest automatic stretch wrappers and carton erectors offer greater efficiency and less damage in transit to users

At interpack, Lantech showed its range of automatic stretch wrappers and carton packaging systems that are designed to make packaging processes more efficient and prevent any damage in transit. A stand highlight was the RL automatic ring stretch wrapper that can wrap up to 180 loads per hour. This new equipment includes features that offer increased wrapping force for maximum stability without squeezing and twisting the load or tearing the film; protection against film tears by welding the film end to the load and a control system that can adjust the film stretch during operation. An optional extra allows the film rolls to be changed automatically. It is suitable for load dimensions of up to 1200 mm x 1200 mm x 2700 mm.

Also on show was the QL-400XT semi-automatic stretch wrapper that saves two minutes of time on each wrapping cycle by using the patented XT cut & clamp feature. Users can process up to 35 loads per hour, where the film can have a maximum pre-stretch of 300%.

Completing the display was the CI-1000 automatic inline carton erector that can process up to 25 cases per minute. The C-300 case erector is the right choice for smaller quantities, says Lantech.

The equipment is available in the UK from Antalis, AMJ Maters, Rovema, Vikaso and Westrock Packaging Machinery.
