range of smart solutions for sustainable capping makes bottlers’ operations easier

At interpack, visitors to the AROL stand saw the latest capping technologies for product safety, a view on the circular economy and the latest trends on sustainable packaging materials.

Visitors were able to discover smart instrumented bottles, decappers and decrowners along with results on tests on paper caps, thanks to the AROL ‘LabV’ laboratory capper which is able to measure approach angle, screwing stroke and angle,

AROL presented several capping advances flat angle and total cam stroke.

AROL’s display was designed to help bottlers to use PET at its best from an environmental point of view: from the laboratory phase, with the robotic station

‘ClosureXpertLab’, where new ultra light and/or tethered caps are tested, to the cap feeding phase with visual quality control, up to the precapping, and then on to the fully servocontrolled capping cycle. Meanwhile, the ‘Smart Closure System’ was also introduced: a capping solution that is billed as guaranteeing correct and efficient closure application.

The new technology for crosssealing is designed in such a way that the fixed sealing jaws clamp the film completely at the sealing seam and seals it ultrasonically, while the unit moves linearly during the sealing process in accordance with the film speed.

“Our customers often need flow pack films with different thicknesses and barrier properties for their products,” explains product manager Stefan Horvath. “Now they can easily switch back and forth between the cross-sealing technologies, and if manufacturers want to use a box motion unit on their flowpacker at a later date, for example because they want to switch to more environmentally friendly films, they can simply retrofit it.”
