POWER IN OUR PARTNERSHIPS

The power of our movement lies in the power of our people. Through strategic, intersectional partnerships, we find new ways to lift our community up and get resources to the people that need them.

Partnering with PPGC has been life changing. I always thought my interest in sex health and equity for Black women was a hobby, but it became a lifestyle of meaningful work. PPGC and the entire team has given me the opportunity to be a voice for my community as the PPYL co-chair and creator of Nude Vanity.

MALEIYA PORTER-JONES, RISE UP SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT, MADE POSSIBLE THROUGH THE PACKARD FOUNDATION

With the Louisiana Coalition for Reproductive Freedom, we worked to build a formal infrastructure that includes staff funding and collaborative statewide organizing. Together, we mobilized Louisianans for reproductive freedom during the legislative session and organized rallies in New Orleans and Baton Rouge after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision.

EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY

With reproductive rights under attack and limited to no sexual health education in schools, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast remains a trusted source of accurate and inclusive information. We strive to empower young people to take control of their own bodies, promote healthy relationships, and offer a judgement-free zone for questions and concerns.

Education is an important piece of health care, because there is so much misinformation out there, and teenREACH has given me the tools I need to not only help myself, but to empower my community to make healthy and informed decisions for themselves.

FIGHTING FOR OUR FUTURE

With the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent decision, our other services such as ultrasounds, birth control, and accurate sex education are increasingly important. Demand for Long-Acting Reversible Contraception like implants and IUDs and our Patient Navigation services have dramatically increased and our patient care team has been working to adapt to the changing needs of our patients.

This past year we have rallied for our rights, protested against dangerous laws, and marched for a future where abortion access is not determined by a person’s income or zip code. Despite the relentless attacks, we will never stop fighting and keep moving forward. Because this fight will always be worth fighting.
