Peoria Zoo Mini-Zoocamp

March 28-31 • 9 am-3 pm • Limited to Grades 2-5

Cost: $90/member, $100/non-member Registration Deadline: 3/21 Spring Break Mini-Zoocamp is a 4-day camp with a focus on learning about animals, both at the Zoo and in the wild. Zoocamp includes animal encounters, science activities, crafts, outside exploring, storytelling, games, and more! Bring a sack lunch; snack and drink provided.

Automated Billing

Your camp fees can be paid in weekly installments through an automatic installment billing process. Registration for a minimum of 4 weeks is required for payment plan. Two weeks of camp will be charged at the time of enrollment into our automated billing plan. Installment billing must be set up as an automatic charge/debit to a credit card or from a bank account. All automatic (or electronic) account withdrawals and credit card charges will be processed on the Monday prior to each camp week registered (7 days before camp week). Your signature and credit card information must be on a signed payment plan. Payment plan registration is only available at the Noble Center (1125 W Lake Ave). THIS SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE ONLINE. Automated billing is not available for Peoria Zoo, Proctor Center, or Spring Break Camps. Camp Refund Policy

Please read the Refund Policy for Day Camps carefully as this policy is different than the normal class/program refund policy of the Peoria Park District. These refund policies do not apply to Peoria Zoo Camp. • The Peoria Park District must receive a written notice of cancellation for Day Camp at least 14 days prior to the start of the week of camp that you are cancelling in order to receive a full refund minus a $5 service charge. • NO FULL REFUNDS will be issued if cancelling Day Camp less than 14 days from the start date of the week of camp you wish to cancel. You will then receive a 50% refund for each session with less than 14 days notice. • NO REFUNDS will be given once each week of camp has started. • In case of transfers to another camp within the Peoria Park District, there will be a $5 service fee charged for each child per session transferred. • For Peoria Zoo Camp, no refunds after payment is received, and payment is due by April 1 or at the time of registration. • Additional withdrawal fees may apply to multiple week discount program participants.

HISRA Inclusion Services

Attention residents of Peoria, Morton, Chillicothe and Washington Park Districts! Is there a program offered at your local park district that you would love for your child with special needs to be a part of, but they may need a little help? Call the Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association (HISRA) at (309) 391-1929, or fill out an “Inclusion Request” on our website at www.hisra.org. Upon reviewing the participant’s needs, HISRA’s professional staff will work to integrate a participant into a program, adapt activities and provide additional support if appropriate to create an inclusive setting and successful experience. HISRA provides all inclusion services at no cost to residents of its Member Districts. Please contact HISRA to learn about nonresident inclusion rates. HISRA also offers its own Summer Camps! RiverPlex Summer Day Camp: Ages 5-12

600 W Water St • Andrea Steffens • 282-1508 • asteffens@peoriaparks.org Location: RiverPlex Fee-R (members are residents) $135/NR: $145 per week (Week 1 and 6: $108/$116 due to holidays) Camp hours: 9:00 am-4:30 pm Extended Care: 6:45-9:00 am and 4:30-5:30 pm (included in fee) Our program provides a wide variety of activities including: playing in our indoor AquaPlex, XR Game Zone, rock climbing wall; arts and crafts; health and fitness; and sports activities in our climate-controlled arena. In addition, we access the Rolling River Playground, the RiverFront biking/walking trail, and much more. Counselors are trained in leadership, safety procedures, activities and supervisory skills. Children will be grouped according to age. Campers should bring their own lunch, swimsuit and towel on a daily basis. Drinks and snacks will be provided in the afternoon. Swim Lessons:

The AquaPlex at the RiverPlex offers swim lessons during the day while your child is in the building for camp. Camp staff will walk your child to the pool for their lesson and walk them back to camp when they are finished. See AquaPlex pages for class descriptions.

Peoria Zoo is celebrating the Summer Olympics! Animals have developed many athletic abilities in order to thrive in the wild. Join us at Zoo Camp to find out how they run, jump, swim, and even eat their way to survival! Each weekly program includes: Animal Encounters, Science Activities, Crafts, Games, and more. Our Zoo Camp sessions are designed to meet the needs, interests and expectations appropriate to the developmental stage of campers at a particular grade level, so it is important that these guidelines are followed. Please do not request to enroll children in other grade categories. • • • • • • • • • •

Registration is required. To register, please call (309) 681-3559. Programs will fill quickly and are on a first come, first served basis. Registration fees are non-refundable and are required at time of registration. Peoria Zoo reserves the right to cancel programs with insufficient registration. A full refund will be given for programs cancelled due to low attendance. Programs are held rain or shine. Camp fees include one Zoo Camp t-shirt. A snack will be provided each day. Campers in sessions 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 8 will need to bring a sack lunch. *Camps for 4th through 8th graders include a Zoo Snooze from 7pm Thursday to 9am Friday. The camp session for these weeks (Sessions 3, 4, 6 and 7) will officially end at 9 am Friday morning. A bonus day of camp on Friday is available for an additional cost. Lakeview Rec Center Summer Day Camp: Ages 5-12

Then check out Lakeview Recreation Center Summer Day Camp for boys and girls ages 5-12. Camp runs for 11 one-week sessions and meets Monday through Friday, 7:00 am-5:30 pm. Weekly themes give the campers a chance to showcase their interests and talents while enjoying sporting activities, arts and crafts, and games each and every day. We will swim on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lakeview Family Aquatic Center, weather permitting. Campers should bring their own lunch on a daily basis and a drink and snack will be provided in the afternoon. All field trips and activities are subject to change. Day Camp Swim Lessons

Don’t have time in the evening or on weekends for the kids to take swim lessons? Sign your kids up for lessons at Lakeview Family Aquatic Center (LFAC) that are held during summer camp hours. Our camp counselors will walk your child from Lakeview Recreation Center to the lesson at LFAC. Cost is $27 for 6 classes. Lessons run Tuesday/Thursday/Friday mornings for 30 minutes at a time and you can choose from the following lesson options (see full descriptions on www.peoriaparks.org or the AquaPlex Playbook pages): Journey I Ages: 5-7 This course is for children who are comfortable in the water and have some water experience.

Journey II Ages: 5-7 MUST know how to float, glide, kick and have basic stroke knowledge.

Weekly themes reflect on a variety of fun events and plenty of hands-on activities. Located on 320 acres, Sommer Park consists of woods, open fields, hiking trails, ponds and a neighborhood park. Ancient Oaks Day Camp is the best place to be this summer as we celebrate our 46th season of memories for children and adults. Our weekly hotdog/s’more roast and singing tree held every Friday is a fun tradition for campers! Pre-camp tours available by appointment by calling 691-6295. Proctor Recreation Center is the place to be! Our Summer Fun Academy is like no other. In addition to great field trips every Friday, your child will experience an abundance of knowledge combining classes and recreation. A typical day includes out-of-the-box teaching in the areas of math, science, and reading in the morning and a combination of sports and extracurricular activities in the afternoon. Sports help children develop physical and mental skills, get exercise, have fun and learn to play as part of a team while the classes keep their brains alive and engaged for the summer.

Children are grouped according to age. Camp hours are from 9:00 am-4:00 pm. After-camp care is available at an additional cost if needed. We do not have before-camp care. Scholarships available for those who qualify. Session/Dates

Students will be separated into age appropriate groups and skill levels. Individual expression encouraged. Sculpting by Design: Sculpture is three-dimensional artwork created by shaping or combining materials. Registration Fair HISRA Summer Camp • Saturday, January 23 Heart of Illinois Special Recreation Association (HISRA) will begin taking registrations for 2016 Summer Camp on Saturday, January 23 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Registration for HISRA Summer Camps will remain open until April 1 based on availability within each camp group. Camp Free to Be: Ages 4-21

Location: HISRA Fees-R/NR: $150/$190 per week (Week 5: $120/$152 due to holiday) Camp hours: 8:30 am-4:00 pm Are you excited for a fun and playful summer? Sign up for Camp Free to Be today! This camp provides adventurous and fun activities for nine weeks throughout the summer for campers with multiple and/or severe disabilities. Our hand picked staff will be paired with your camper based upon camper ratios and needs. This will ensure your camper’s success in the fun camp activities they will encounter. All campers need to bring a sack lunch and drink daily. Member District Transportation is available from a centralized location for residents of Chillicothe, Morton and Washington Park Districts. See Member District Transportation information below. Parents and guardians of Peoria residents can utilize CityLift (497-3340). Peoria County residents can utilize Rural Peoria County Transportation (697-3305). Morton residents can also utilize We Care Inc. (253-7708). There is no charge for campers who are residents of these member districts. Transportation will be provided to campers who are not residents of our member districts – only if space is available – for a nominal fee. Space is limited; residents of HISRA member districts will be given priority. Pick-up and drop-off times will be determined at the close of registration.
