There’s a note on her car saying, “Can I have your autograph?” A colleague starts to sing “Movie star”. Another greets her in German. That’s how it’s been ever since a documentary filmmaker decided to follow Krokom’s most daring rural mail carrier.

HER COLLEAGUES

at the post office in H Krokom are of course joking. And it’s maybe not so surprising that they’re teasing the leading actress from the film a little. After all, it’s not every day a German film crew comes to town.

It all started when rural mail carrier, Linnéa Andersson was having lunch and found herself sitting next to a reporter from the local newspaper, Östersunds Posten. She started talking about her working day. How she covers 320 km on the Valsjöbyn route, stopping for coffee with her grandma and grandpa in Skärvången. About the days filled with driving through woods, past lakes and mountains, and about her meetings with people and animals. And, of course, about her passion: folk racing.

THE REPORTER turned her story into an article in the paper, and that was the end of that – until a German documentary filmmaker called.

“She’d read the article and asked if I’d be willing to participate in a documentary about Jämtland. I was at a loss for words. I mean it wasn’t even Swedish TV, it was German! Little me, who grew up in Sikås, a town with a population of perhaps 200 on a good day, starring in a German documentary?

“I was initially shocked, then delighted. I thought ‘how often are you going to get a chance like this?’ and jumped at the offer.”

THE TV CREW ARRIVED in Krokom in

August 2021 and filmed on four occasions over a two-week period. They came along on the long mail delivery route through the beautiful Jämtland landscape, but were just as fascinated with Linnéa’s daredevil hobby.

“Everyone in my family is a motorsport fan. My parents folkraced before I was born. We have four cars, but one of them is a bit… wounded. It caught fire during a race. It could have become really dangerous because the fuel line had actually come loose. The film crew was there, but they missed all the drama!” What was it like having a film crew following you around?

“Well, it was unusual to have the camera there, but at the same time I thought it was pretty cool. Jämtland is my home turf, after all; I grew up here and love it.

“And I hope my involvement in the project can help more people understand how we work at PostNord.”

The documentary about Jämtland will be screened on German TV in spring 2022.

Position at PostNord: Rural mail carrier in Krokom, Sweden. Closest colleagues: “Kent Dahlqvist, Peter Starkman and Micke Tunell. Not forgetting my Manager, Torgny Elofsson and Team Leader, Niklas Hellgren. They’re always up for a cup of coffee and a chat when there’s time for it. They call and check on you when you’re off sick, and always want to know how I did at the folk races. You really feel that they care about you.”
