Recording Academy honours

YOUNG AGAIN

Nirvana members are among the first-time nominees for 2014 induction into the hall, for which artists become eligible 25 years after the release of their debut single or album. They join a list of veteran acts who are also up for the honor for the first time, including former Genesis leader and solo star Peter Gabriel, "You're No Good" singer Linda Ronstadt, prog rock icons Yes and rock and soul duo Hall & Oates. Despite releasing just three full-length studio albums in their seven-year career, Nirvana stand as one of the most influential rock bands thanks to landmark hits such as Smells Like Teen Spirit.

ust four years after the Recording Academy honored Neil Young with an allstar tribute concert, they are once again honouring him, reported the Rolling Stone. This time it's the Recording Academy Producers and Engineers Wing. The seventh annual ceremony will take place on January 21st and held at Village Studios in West Los Angeles. Past honorees include Chris Blackwell, Jimmy Iovine, Quincy Jones and T Bone Burnett. It is with great honour that we pay tribute to a musical icon who has been tireless in his own efforts to draw attention to the importance of hearing music as the artistes who created it intended, and who has continually set precedents of excellence within

evening with this legendary artiste." Much of Young's time in recent years has been devoted to his LincVolt electric car project and his high-resolution digital audio format, Pono. In a recent note on his website, Young wondered whether too much of his time has been spent on these types of initiatives. "As the sun rises today I wonder," he wrote, "how hard should I try? As I spread awareness of climate change and make that my priority, am I losing sight of day to day life? Is this more important than making music? Why should it matter so much to me?" In 2010, Young was named the 2010 MusiCares Person of the Year, another annual Grammyweek event.

Attention, Ke$ha fans currently releasing her early demos. "They're so crazy; I love them. I live for them!" she laughed. "I have songs leak all the time, because I've written like, hundreds and hundreds of songs, and my fans somehow find them on the Internet, somewhere — I don't even have them — and they put them around.”

Lady Gaga and R. Kelly just want you to do whatever you want. The Mother Monster is giving fans a preview of her ARTPOP duet, "Do What U Want," with Kells, in a new advertisement for Beat by Dre. On the snippet of the song, Gaga and R. Kelly trade lines over a funky, up-tempo beat. "Do What U Want/ Don't Stop/ Let's party," Gaga sings.
