Two Osceola Heritage Park Executives earn nominations for 2023 SPORTYS Awards

Robb Larson, General Manager of OHP, and Mary Burd, Assistant General Manager & Director of Finance at OHP have been nominated for the 2023 SPORTYS Awards, which are presented by Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and honor sports business professionals who excel in their field, and whose contributions and help make the Greater Orlando area one of the country’s premier sports destinations.

Robb Larson, General Manager of OHP, has been nominated for Executive of the Year, and Mary Burd, Assistant General Manager & Director of Finance at OHP, was nominated the Best in Business Operations.

The 2023 SPORTYS will air on WKMG-TV News 6 and stream online on Saturday, June 17 at 7:00 PM with the winners being revealed during the broadcast.

The Central Florida Expressway Authority as announced that Northbound SR 417 from SR 528 to Lee Vista Boulevard is scheduled to close nightly this week from Tuesday, May 9, to Thursday, May 11, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for road work.

Drivers traveling on northbound SR 417 will be directed to exit onto northbound SR 528 (Exit 26) and follow detour signs to northbound Narcoossee Road to southbound Lee Vista Boulevard to the northbound ramp for SR 417.

Please allow extra travel time. Weather and other unforeseen circumstances could delay completion of the work. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area for their safety and that of the work crews.

City of St. Cloud, Early Learning Coalition, United Way, to unveil ‘Born Learning Trail’ Wednesday at Wheel Park

The City of St. Cloud, in collaboration with the Early Learning Coalition of Osceola and Heart of Florida United Way, will host a ribbon-cutting, grand opening ceremony Wednesday, May 10 at 10am for the brandnew ‘Born Learning Trail’ at Wheel Park in St. Cloud.

The beautifully colorful ‘Born Learning Trail’ is geared towards young children, aiming to promote their growth and development while encouraging meaningful interactions between them and their caregivers.

City of St. Cloud Deputy Mayor Kolby Urban will speak at the event, which will feature lots of enthusiastic kiddos running through a crepe-paper ribbon to officially inaugurate the park’s new creative feature and explore its interactive stations.

Osceola Council on Aging celebrates volunteers western style!

The Osceola Council on Aging recently celebrated National Volunteer Month with some Western-style flare, complete with cowboy hats, boots, country music, and a special appearance by the King, Elvis Presley that is!

The event, held in April, was a way for the OCOA to show their appreciation for the volunteers who contribute their time and energy to the organization throughout the year. With over 700 volunteers, the Osceola Council on Aging provides essential services to seniors and those in need in the community, including meal delivery, transportation, social support, and of course… lots of fun!

The Western-themed celebration was a unique way to honor the volunteers and acknowledge their hard work. Attendees enjoyed dancing, live music, and a delicious meal provided by Big John’s Rockin’ Barbecue.
