JULY 8, 2003 Posey County News Bob Deig was elected a Posey County councilman for District II. Around 320 graduates, students and guests attended the eleventh annual Wadesville Alumni banquet and dance held June 28 at the VFW in Wadesville. Erma Hinderlighter celebrated her 95th birthday with family and friends at the Mount Vernon Senior Citizen Center. Ryan Seaton, a graduate of North Posey High School and resident of Cynthiana, will be performing as the lead singer for the Melody boys Quartet based in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the Christian Fellowship Church. Mollie Arbary and Clint Beste were selected as the April 4-H’ers of the month. Ron and Shirley Watenpool carded a 378 over the weekend to win the July 4 Weekend Net best ballaggregate tournament at Western Hills County Club in Mount Vernon. Zach Schlumpf, Poseyville, and Mike Wrobel, Wadesville, were among the finalists in their respective classes at the Chandler Motorsports Park.

East, Mount Vernon, is listed in serious but stable condition at Evansville’s Deaconess Hospital following a two-car accident Saturday night in the 800 block of East Sycamore Street in Mount Vernon. Christine Elizabeth McBride, the four-month-old daughter of Roger and Renee McBride of Mount Vernon, has been named the Posey County Right to Life Beautiful Baby Contest winner. Bill and Melody Schmitt, Poseyville, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Joseph Jacob. Eli and Pearl Saltzman celebrate 70th wedding anniversary. The South West Indiana Branch 377, National Association of Letter Carriers is sponsoring a 12 team double elimination slowpitch softball tournament to benefit Jerry’s Kids. Tennis players of all ability levels and ages from throughout the Tri-State will compete in the Eighth annual WIKY Tri-State Fun Fest Tennis Tournament July 1517. JULY 5, 1963 Posey County News Ground breaking ceremonies for the building of Wabash Levee Unit 5 were held with Sen. R. Vance Hartke (D-Ind.) as the principal speaker. The Rev. Charles R. Armstrong is the new pastor of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Poseyville. Four Posey County 4-H youths won in the County Demonstration Contest held at the Improvement Center, June 25. Miss Judy Helfrich, Miss Pat Bullard, Charles Carpenter, and Miss Rita Hoehn will now be attending the District Contest. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crabtree, Poseyville, announce the arrival of their first child, Jeffrey Ray. A total of $477.83 was realized in Poppy sales conducted by Posey County Post No. 6576, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Two Little League squads made up of Poseyville players are battling it out for the town ‘championship.’ Opener of the series was played Monday evening, as Jim Newman’s ‘Cardinals’ walloped ‘Dutch’ Kries’ ‘Yankees’ nine to five in a three-inning affair.
Mount Vernon High School NP Class of ‘83 Reunion The North Posey Class of 1983 will hold its 30-year reClass of 1973 Reunion union on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 6 p.m. The event Mount Vernon High School Class of 1973 will have their 40 year reunion on Sept.14, 2013, at the Mount Vernon Elks Home, 131 East Fourth Street in Mount Vernon. Wadesville School Alumni Association Reunion Held
Priscilla is a Red Tick Hound mix who is one-year-old and weighs about 35 pounds. She is housetrained, good with other dogs, cats and children. Priscilla (or Sallie as her foster family likes to call her) is a sweet and affectionate dog with a love of chew toys. She is waiting for her forever home. Maybe the wait for your best friend is over.

The Wadesville School Alumni Association Reunion was held Saturday June 29, 2013 at the VFW Post Home in Wadesville, Indiana. Approximately 265 graduates, students, and guest attended the Sixteenth Reunion Banquet. All enjoyed a delicious meal, prepared by the Ladies of the VFW. All classes were recognized during the evening. Winning the prize for the oldest female graduate was Alvena (Wentzel) Knowles coming from Lakeland Florida - class of 1937. Winning the prize for the oldest male graduate was Ralph Schneck coming from San Antonio Texas, also class of 1937. Ralph also received the prize for the graduate traveling the farthest. The class of 1938 celebrated 75 years since graduation. We have one living graduate, Mary June (Ramsey) Van Pelt of Satsuma Florida. The class of 1943 celebrated 70 years since graduation. There are 5 living graduates. Present were Lucille (Kincheloe-Reineke) Saunders of Lakeland Florida. The class of 1948 celebrated 65 years. There are 20 living graduates. Present were Sam Wentzel, Charlotte (Schmitz) Charles, Daniel Dierlam, and James Montgomery. Celebrating 60 years was the class 1953. There are 16 living graduates. Present were Jane (Rutledge) Rodgers, James Joest, Frances (Byrd) Stokes, James Donner, Ralph Winternheimer, Don Schneck, and Doreen (Snook) Simpson. Celebrating 55 years was the class of 1958. There are 16 living graduates. Present were Delores (Kincheloe) Babillis, Malcom Yancy, Jerry Allyn Becker,
Patricia (Lesher) Hadden, Charlotte (Thompson) Schmitt, Bill Young III, Nancy (Motz) Krasznai, Wanda (Mason) Wade, Hubert Clark, and Patricia Ruth (Tyler) Barnett. An Election of officers was held with the present officers being retained for the 2015 Reunion. Betty Jo (Motz) Moore – Secretary-Treasurer, Don Schneck – Vice President, and Hazelann (Heal) Hutchison – President. The next reunion will be on Saturday June 27th, 2015. Reverend Ruby Schroeder (class of 1944) gave the memorial service for our dearly departed classmates. She did a wonderful job and is such an inspirational person. A lecture and slide presentation was presented by Don Schneck relating his father Ralph Schneck’s (class of 1937) growing up in Wadesville, working in Evansville and traveling to California and New Mexico to be trained to fly bombers during WWII. Don had copies of his book ‘Cheerio and Best Wishes: Letters from a WWII Hoosier Pilot’ for sale. Ralph even flew bombers with movie star Jimmy Stewart. Door prizes were drawn, the school song was sung and the social hour followed. Remember we can use new members on our committee: our first meeting will be in August 2014. Posey County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel were dispatched to St. Philips Road just north of the Bohleber Road intersection Wednesday evening where this 1991 Red Chevrolet S-10 left the roadway and inpacted a tree. Thirty-three year old Zachary Lear passed away due to injuries sustained from the accident.
INGREDIENTS
Salt 1 pound bow-tie pasta 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 2 garlic cloves, smashed 1 pint cherry tomatoes
3 ears fresh corn, kernels cut off 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn into pieces
DIRECTIONS
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until al dente; drain. 2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and tomatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the corn, raise the heat slightly and cook until the corn is heated through and golden, about 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt. 3. Add the vegetables, butter and basil to the pasta and toss. 4. Dress it up - Give this pasta a fancy twist by tossing in cooked lobster or shrimp.
