Jerry L. Brown Jerry Leland Brown, 67, of Poseyville, Ind., born to Doyle Leo Brown and Margaret Helen (Brandenstein) Briggeler on June 23, 1950, in Huntingburg, Ind., passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at his home in Poseyville. He graduated from North Posey High School in 1969 and was an auto body repairman for Southern Indiana Body Works for 30 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Surviving are his wife: Jamie Ann (Alexander) Brown; mother: Margaret Helen Briggeler of Poseyville; sons: Jered (Heather) Brown and Nicolas (Kate) Brown both of Poseyville; daughters: Rachel (Josh) Mayes of Poseyville and Susanna (Kurt Clement) Brown of Evansville; brothers: Oscur (Sherri) Briggeler of Poseyville and Otis Briggeler of Mount Vernon, Ind.; a sister: Debra Briggeler of Poseyville; six grandchildren: Chelsea, Kyle, Logan, Natalie, Easton and Christian Brown with a great grandson Axel due in May. Preceding him in death was his father. Funeral services were held Friday, February 9, 2018, at Stewartsville United Methodist Church in Stewartsville, Ind., with burial in Stewartsville Cemetery. Cheryl Lynn (Ashworth) Morlock, 65, of Mount Vernon, Ind., passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Deaconess Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born June 14, 1952, in Evansville, Ind., to James “P t ” and d Wanda W d (M i “Pete” (Meissner) Ashworth. Cheryl had been a surgical technician at Welborn Hospital. She was a longtime member of Mount Vernon General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Pete Ashworth, in 2013. She is survived by her mother, Wanda Ashworth; daughter, Shelly Morlock; grandchildren, Peyton and Reaghan Nelson; sister, Rae (Bill) Duncan; niece, Krista (Jim) Culley; cousins, Vicki (Leon) Trapp and Karen Ashworth; great-nephews, Logan and Zachary Culley; and great-niece, Taylor Culley. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main Street, Mount Vernon, Ind., with Reverend Curt Mort and Reverend Danny Risinger officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Posey Humane Society or the American Diabetes Association. Virginia V. Helmer Virginia V. (Paul) Helmer, 88, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Home. Virginia was born December 18, 1929, in Poseyville, Ind., to the late Joseph and Rosella (Lamey) Paul. Virginia was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church, where she was inducted into the Brute Society of the Diocese of Evansville. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and served as the state president in 1984-1985. She was an avid quilter and a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash award. Surviving Virginia are daughters: Kathy (Mike) Hillyard of Princeton, Ind., and Pauline (Fred) Mackey and Susan (Mike) Young, both of Evansville; sons, James (Susan) Helmer of Evansville, Robert Helmer of Indianapolis and Michael (Karen) Helmer of Homasassa, Fla.; a sister, Alice Maloney of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two brothers, Richard Paul of Princeton and Linus (Betty) Paul of Haubstadt; sixteen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Edgar Joseph Helmer in 2009; by four brothers, Francis, Celestine, Marvin and Sylvan Paul and by a grandson, Eric Helmer. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, February 12, 2018, at Saint Wendel Catholic Church, Rev. Ed Schnur officiating. Burial followed in the Saint Wendel Church Cemetery. August V. Orman August V. Orman, Jr. 96, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, February 06, 2018, at the Solarbron Terrace. August was born April 9, 1921, in Evansville to the late August V. and Victoria (Litzelman) Orman. He worked as a tool and die maker for Bernardin Bottle Cap Company and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. August served as a paratrooper in the United States Army and was a life member of VFW Post #1114. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Ruth (Guetling) Orman; daughters, Barbara (Mike Foust) Tungate and Rebecca (Larry) Diamond; a sister, Carolyn Hardin of Wadesville; brother, Harold (Maggie) Orman of Evansville; grandchildren, Robyn Grubbs, Chris Orman, Brandon (Betsy) Robb, Ryan Tungate and Tyler Tungate and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, August was preceded in death by two sons, James and Ronald Orman; by sisters, Margaret Deig and Dorothy Sanders and by two brothers, Gerald and Victor Orman. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, February 9, 2018, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Rev. Claude Burns officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club conducted military rites. Jane Ann Stewart, 62, of New Harmony, Ind., born to Bernard and Joan (Goebel) Stolz on May 14, 1955, in Evansville, Ind., passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, at her home in New Harmony, Ind. She graduated from North Posey High School in 1973 and worked for the United States Postal service for 28 years. She loved flowers, antiques and her granddaughter. Preceding her in death were her parents. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Saint Philip Catholic Church in Saint Philip, Ind., with burial in the church cemetery. Helen Ann Jones Helen Ann Jones (Nee Weber), Age 79. Born on June 27, 1938 in Snake Run, Ind., and died February 6, 2018 in Hartland, Wis., Survived by her four children Laura Anderson (Doug), Janet Wygert (Bryan), Dale Jones and Bruce Jones (Shana), three granddaughters Zoe Jones, Cody Jones and Saylor Wygert , five siblings, Loretta Brahm (Charles), Earl Weber (Darlene), Joanie Schneider (Dennis), Irene Seibert (of Poseyville) and Jeanette Will, sister-in-laws Catherine Weber and Marjory Weber. She is also survived by dozens of nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Cecelia Weber, her brothers Paul Weber and Carl Weber, brothers-in-law Joe Seibert, Leo Will, nephews Jim Seibert, John Brahm and her former husband Stanley Jones.
