THE EDITORS
The reason we set our pink-pedicured toes in the fashion world is simple: we wanted to try on all the clothes in the world. Knowing that a typical freshman’s pocket money will only get her a couple of dresses from Forever 21 on those days she is lucky, we decided to become fashion editors just so that we could fulfill our dreams for free. But where do we start? From the bottom, steaming racks of clothes and cleaning up after snobby models? (No offense to our dear models, by the way; you guys are far, far from being snobs.) Being the lazy but ambitious people that we are, we decided to place ourselves at the top of the food chain by launching a magazine. Editor-in-Chief. Sounds fancy and quite “Devil Wears Prada”-esque, eh? Well, you cant be more wrong. Being editors-in-chief means stalking writers, begging shop owners for sponsorships, holding up desk lamps and tin foil-covered “light boards” during photo shoots. It is pure labor, endless doses of stress, squeezing what little brain cells we have left for fresh ideas. Not that the circumstances are any different for the rest of the staff members; they too slave for hours editing photos, recruiting models, and dealing with our near-deadline psycho tantrums. Why do we do this to ourselves, you may ask? Let’s put it this way. Feeling the glossy pages between your fingers is like touching that silky hemline of a one-of-a-kind vintage dress you find after raiding every single boutique on Melrose. Seeing your own name imprinted on the staff section is like spotting those last pair of glitter-covered Louboutin pumps at a sample sale. How could we trade this feeling for anything else in the world? So here it is. The final, orgasmic on our part, product of our continuous whining, stressing, and trotting (in five-inch heels, that is). Yes, we can’t dare say it is perfect. Fortunately, we have you as our readers to tell us what’s missing. With you, it’s only going to get better. With love, Dana Jeong & Stephanie Choi

Japan Kiss Me Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara, $14
This mascara is world-famous: after making its debut and being voted number one in Japan, it made its way over to America and into all the beauty insiders’ makeup bag. Known for its durability (it literally lasts forever so use with a really good eye makeup remover), this item dramatically extends and curls your lashes for one of those pretty doll faces look. Thanks to its curved brush, it never, ever clumps on you. Available at any Japanese markets or purchase online.
Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink, $21 Since I have been “blessed” with almondshaped Asian eyes, I’m always searching for the next best liner to maximize my eye size. This gel-type liner may not seem like such a great tool, but it is simply the best – neither pencil nor liquid eyeliner can top this. It is easier to apply than liquid but lasts way longer than pencil. Make sure to buy a brush with it; the shorter, the better.

Thoughts on his way to the blind date VP: I had no idea who she was. Absolutely none. My friend Cindy randomly asked me if I wanted to go on a blind date, so I thought, why not? I get free dinner and maybe meet a cool chick.

Blind date details VP: We walked Third Street Promenade, checked it out, then we went to Bucca di Beppo. We had a good conversation about family, school, job, and

her hobbies. Then we went to Pinkberry - (POSE: Jenny’s idea, I’m assuming?) well, getting dessert was my idea (laughs) – and went to the Santa Monica Pier. There, we rode the Ferris wheel, I won her a stuffed animal at one of those arcade thing, and took pictures at the photo booth. We walked down the beach and I dropped her off at school.
Last Impression VP: She’s really outgoing, she’s very social and really cool. She presents herself to the fullest. While we were walking down the beach, she linked arms with me and that was really cute.

KIMSKI Makes is a store that I accidently came across when shopping around at American Apparel in Little Tokyo. I decided to go next door and came across this gem of a store. One of my favorite local places where you can savor down some amazingly fluffy pancakes that taste straight out of your kitchen at home. The hipster environment is so welcoming and really draws attention with its eye-catching décor. You can even stay until lunch and there’s no way you’ll resist their cupcakes and other baked goods. They’re all irresistible…no joke.

When I crave food, it’s usually something from Aroma. They really do have something for everyone, at all hours of the day. Whether you’re a tofu-loving vegan or a complete meat eater, you are guaranteed to leave here satisfied! The ambiance makes you feel as though you’re calmly in your backyard, until you realize you’re surrounded by a bunch of other people who feel the same. Don’t be surprised to run into celebrities who stop by for lunch; this is definitely the spot to be and you’ll soon see why.

Where do I begin with Katana! Located right across the street from the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd., coming here will truly give you a luxury dinner night out. Although it is a bit on the pricey side, it is completely worth it for the quality of Japanese cuisine that you can’t just find anywhere. Just being there makes you feel important. And don’t forget to dress to impress, you’ll never know whom you’ll run into.

HUMOR One day during my class trip to Hawaii, I had a little too much pizza after swimming all day and felt my stomach muscles tighten here and there all evening. Finally, after waking up countless times because of my stomachache, I decided to let it all out of my system. It was all good and satisfying until the moment I tried to flush down my “business,” but the toilet would only make weird gargling sounds. Since it was way past midnight, I figured I would take care of it first thing in the morning when I find the necessary gadgets. I ended up waking up to a deafening scream of my best friend and a bunch of disgusted faces. Even now, I can vividly picture my crush’s appalled expressions when I reluctantly confessed to my crime.
The first time I attempted to pay for the laundry with my USCard, I ended up paying for three wrong washers before I figured out I was looking at the wrong number on the machine.
My first boyfriend, a bunch of my friends, and I were watching a scary movie at someone’s house. I remember sitting in fetal position, leaning against my boyfriend. When the movie was over, I realized that my shirt had ridden up, so I stood up to pull down my shirt. As I did so, I accidentally pulled down my fabric shorts down as well. I turned around and my boyfriend and a few of my friends were staring at my butt, which was scantily clad in a thong. To this day, my friends still make fun of me about my mooning them.

So it was the summer before freshman year at SC and I was a camp counselor for middle school kids. I was playing around with them in the pool when we decided to play volleyball in there. Forgetting that I was wearing a bandeau swimsuit top, I jumped up to block the ball coming over the net. My top immediately fell to my stomach and my first reaction was to grab my chest and ask my friend if people noticed. I was laughing hysterically yet incredibly embarrassed. I stood there for about a good minute without pulling my top up because I had no idea who saw and how to do it discreetly‌oh god!
Once I was at a Starbucks with a boyfriend, just chatting after school over white chocolate mochas. We hadn’t been going out for very long, so I was trying to be my wittiest. I took a sip of coffee, and when he said something, I fired off a clever response -- only I ended up spitting coffee all over his face because I forgot to swallow. I was mortified, but he was really sweet and wanted to know if I was okay and all that chivalrous jazz.
