PORTLAND TIMBERS AT LA GALAXY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19, 2013 ALL-TIME SERIES NOTES The Timbers earned their first win over back-to-back MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy on Aug. 3, 2011, with a 3-0 triumph at JELD-WEN Field behind goals from defender Mike Chabala, forward Jorge Perlaza and defender Eric Brunner. Portland is 1-4-0 all-time against the Galaxy, including an 0-3-0 record at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. In five games, the two clubs have combined for 19 overall goals, including 12 in the first half of matches. The Timbers have scored one goal in three road games against the Galaxy, last facing the 2012 MLS Cup champions on the road on June 17, 2012 - a 1-0 loss. Despite attempting more shots on goal than the Galaxy, defender Todd Dunivant provided the difference for the Southern California side with the game-winning goal in the 61st minute. In their most recent match, Portland and LA combined for eight goals in a frenetic match at JELD-WEN FIeld on July 14, 2012. Galaxy midfielder David Beckham and forward Robbie Keane each tallied a brace and added an assist as the Timbers suffered a 5-3 loss. Forward Kris Boyd scored a brace for the Timbers while defender Kosuke Kimura tallied a goal in the 34th minute. The Galaxy scored four goals in a nine-minute span in the first half, taking a 4-2 at halftime.

LAST TIME VS. LA GALAXY Midfielder David Beckham and forward Robbie Keane each recorded two goals and an assist as the LA Galaxy defeated the Portland Timbers 5-3 at JELD-WEN Field on July 14, 2012. The clubs combined for six goals in the opening 34 minutes of the match, and a brace by Beckham helped the Galaxy take a 4-2 lead into halftime. After an early goal from Portland striker Kris Boyd, forward Landon Donovan and Keane each recorded a goal and an assist in the first half, as the Galaxy notched four unanswered goals to take the lead. Boyd and Keane each capped their respective two-goal performances in the second half, and LA claimed its second straight road victory in the 5-3 win. RELIABLE RICKETTS Timbers goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts has helped guide the team to a 13-game unbeaten streak, compiling six clean sheets this season. The Jamaican international has logged three different individual shutout streaks of 200 or more minutes this season, including a stretch of 312 minutes from March 30-April 21. On June 15, Ricketts tied an MLS Timbers single-game high with seven saves in a 1-0 win against FC Dallas. Currently, Ricketts has an individual shutout streak of 216 minutes (May 18-25; June 15).

STREAKING PIQUIONNE Timbers forward Frederic Piquionne is tied for the lead among all MLS players with four goals in the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup tournament. The U.S. Open Cup Player of the Round for the third round, Piquionne scored four goals in the first half of a 5-1 win over the Wilmington Hammerheads (USL PRO) on May 29 at JELD-WEN Field. In all competitions, Piquionne has recorded four goals and four assists in four of the last five games. The striker recorded his first career MLS assist on May 25 at D.C. United, added four goals on May 29 against Wilmington in the U.S. Open Cup, earned two assists on June 8 at Chicago and tallied another assist on June 12 in a 2-0 U.S. Open Cup win over Tampa Bay.
