maine life What’s the strangest event you ever catered?
We got hired by a big pharmaceutical firm in Ohio to come out for a week to put on lobster bakes every day–they were hosting all kinds of doctors and medical practices. I had New Meadows air-shipping me lobsters every day for a week.

The Maine Lobster Bake Co. of Portland is the creation of Courtney MacIsaac, who caters lobster bakes and events for crowds of 25 to 500. “I have an outdoor kitchen setup. I designed my own three-by-three-foot lobster steamers with propane burners. I also designed a longer, narrow cooker I can cook on outside, remove the burners, and wheel right into a house. I cook mussels in a garlic and wine sauce, and the clams get steamed with beer in their own separate pots. There are lots of choices on sides, and cream-based, gluten-free New England clam chowder. “We recycle and compost all food waste. I do a lot of events on Peaks Island, and there are pigs and horses there we can give some of the food to. Otherwise, we take it to Alewive’s
