Inaugurated in November 2008, the Algarve International Motor Racing Circuit, located just 10 minutes from Portimão, is a dream come true. A landmark in excellence at international level, it has been resoundingly praised by a number of specialists from the world motor racing scene, not least seven-times Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, who spared no praise when he visited the circuit: “It’s an extraordinary circuit”. Featuring one of Europe´s best karting circuit, a sports complex, a technological park and a luxury hotel, the project is another feather in Portimão’s cap and constitutes another year-round attraction for the Algarve. A number of major competitions are scheduled every year, including the Superbike World Championship, International GT Open and Superstars International Series.

In addition, the Ferrari and McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 teams have already used the circuit to carry out a number of tests.
