At Pontefract Collieries we pride ourselves on being a key cog in our local community. Over the years and even more so recently, we have been able to provide for those in the community that need us most, which we will look to continue moving forward.
With this in mind we want to build more community connections with local businesses and organisations, to work together and help our community grow together as one. Our aim is not to take from others but to allow a platform that allows everyone within our community to prosper

We Never rest on our laurels however, and we are currently working on the following projects;
A new stand (almost completed), and a 3G pitch that is at the planning permission and feasibility stage.
The Life Centre which is planned to be completed this summer. From working with our Pirates for years we know that many of them love the football we provide but need to be physically and mentally stretched more often. We want to create them a hub where they help shape what the provision will look like
The Life Centre will include a gym area. The gym will be available to all our football players and members including our daily pirates and our Alternative Provision children The gym will be a fantastic way for all to let off steam and get rid of frustrations.
Renovated football pitches. Our bid to the Football Foundation has been submitted and once approved (highly likely), the work will go to tender This will ensure all our players have improved surfaces to play on. This has been held up by our 3G bid, but will go ahead whether we can build a new 3G pitch at the same time or not.
A Community Centre. Our local Council and nearby coalfield land developer fully support our bid for a new community centre to be built on our site due to the amount of support we are already giving our local area. Our proposals are now with our Landlord the Duchy for consideration
A horticultural centre- A horticulture centre will be created next to the new community centre. This will be run by local volunteers who we already have in place and again will give our Pirates and AP students another skill and initiative to be involved in.
A skatepark. Again, we are the preferred location for a skatepark by our local council due to the work we are already doing in our community
