Black Cannabis Grower Wants To Grow Without A License By Avela Gontsana Makhosandile Mpono Known as JT Muziq, a South African International singer from Port St Johns has worked greatly with the French based label, Dub Akom, a co-founder and president at Rasta bouySound international. A reggae artist that have healed many hearts through music in the world and shared music experiences with some of acclaimed reggae musicians of this time such as Freddie MCGregor, Berres Hamond, Jonny Osbom and many more, is a founder and owner of Ntsangwini Holdings, a Cannabis growing distribution and an events company that coordinates all Cannabis related events such as Festivals, Expos, Conferences, and workshops. JT Musiq is also a song writer and a film maker. This leaving legend is an “INTSANGU” activist who is fighting for the rights of black people to grow cannabis without licence, these activists be-

lieve that the issue of a licence is just another Government’s way of excluding black people in the business that is rightfully theirs as it is their culture as Rastafarians movement to grow cannabis “Who needs license to practise their culture?” asked JT he continued and say “Black people have been growing weed for decades it is their life style” One needs not less than R23 000 to obtain this licence along with a number of terms and conditions which are believed to be ridiculous by black growers. “Intsangu” activists say it would be fair if only their traditional leader acquire the licence then his people are permitted to cultivate under that same licence if not the Government should consider them as the famers they must be funded as well not to be left behind.

Mzamba Beach, 17 March 2021 – Wild Coast Sun, Sun Inter-

national’s only beachfront resort, formed a partnership to assist victims of violent crimes get the care they need in a friendly environment. Thanks to the partnership, the local trauma and care centre has received a makeover that means it is a more inviting area in which to be counselled.

The Trauma and Care Centre is situated at the Mzamba Police Station opposite the Wild Coast Sun in Mzamba Beach in the Eastern Cape and was handed over to the South African Police Service in November 2009. The centre is fully equipped to offer counselling to victims of rape and child abuse. The trauma centre received a fresh coat of paint on all walls, doors, and ceiling, which complemented the furnishings donated at the start of the project. The centre has a reception and waiting room area, a children’s facility room with toys, a lounge and kitchen with a television and DVD player, a consulting room with one bed, shower and toilet, as well as an office for a social worker. The South African Police Service, through its provincial structures, will provide staffing and maintenance of the project on behalf of the community, to ensure that all seven rights contained in the Victims’ Charter are observed.

“The Trauma and Care Centre will also assist the police in obtaining crucial evidence from victims in absolute home privacy out of the cold harsh public charge office. Victims will be treated with respect and dignity in a friendly environment,” said Peter Tshidi.

The centre seeks to address the problem of crime against women and children within the immediate area as well as the greater Bizana area. The project will promote new values, human rights and partnership between the community, business, and the Police Services.

The Unconstitutionality of Indigenous Practices In South Africa (Par t 2) By: Bongani Dinga ka Luvatsha Lets continue where we left off from the last issue (issue 2 vol 1). The concept of unconstitutionality of Indigenous practices in South Africa has been on the lips of many scholars and legal minds in the country; even parliament has been much occupied with the ordeal and touched on the importance of re-evaluating such practices and norms. Section 211 (3) of the Constitution holds that "The courts must apply Customary law when that law is applicable, subject to the Constitution and any legislation that specifically deals with Customary law". This basically means that Customary law will only be recognised if and only if its practices, norms and values are aligned with the Bill of Rights enshrined in the Constitution. The problem we see now in our communities is that South African indigenous people still practice customs and traditions which are not aligned with the Constitution, for example the custom of "ukuthwala" is a clear violation of person's right to dignity, equality, freedom of movement and the right to freedom and security of a person (Section 10, 9, 21 and 12) The are many other cultural and religious practices which are contrary to the Constitution which are still being practiced to this very day and the most remote rural areas in the country are experiencing gross human rights violation on a day to day basis without law or government doing anything about it. This has to come to an end and promptly. BACKGROUND REVIEW OF CUSTOMARY LAW.

All Football Players Ar e Encoura ged To Re gister With South African Football Associa tion By Avela Gontsana Local football players are advised to play an organised football as football can no longer be considered as a hobby but a career or a job as it changes situations and put food on the table in some households. Mr Mawethu Goerge Gusha (40) chairman of Bizana local football association and a regional member of Alfred Nzo district in South African Football Association (SAFA) says, it is important for the local players to register with SAFA in order for them to grow and reach the professional level in football either as a referee or a player. George says, a register player within SAFA is automatically insured as long as the membership card is active should anything happen to them, they covered by SAFA. For an example, a“there was a case in 2020 where players were hit by lightning during the game and two players died, when they contacted SAFA national; Denny Jordan contacted us to assist but we unfortunately could not help in that situation as those players were not members of SAFA “Mr Mawethu George Gusha chairman of SAFA and had they been members we could’ve helped as SAFA in Bizana” - says George.

in Bizana”

Mr Gusha says that registered SAFA members are allowed to participate in these other tournaments, they only need to report when they are going to do so. SAFA also have two tournaments per year in exception of the leagues.

George also mentioned that, “it is their role as SAFA in Bizana to encourage and coordinate the games of football in Bizana and promote the clubs from grassroots level to a professional level within Mbizana jurisdiction as laid down within the statute of SAFA that they must work within the Municipality.” He also says “Bizana has grown and improved a lot in football, as we all know that Pondo Chiefs was promoted to where it is now; we still have about nine (9) clubs here in Bizana that are playing at a regional league, two (2) clubs are in provincial (ABC Motsepe) league. That is Spears of the Nation Football Club as well as Sinenkani Football Club. Mzamba Ladies football Club just recently got promoted to SASSOL league where BanyanaBanyana players are selected). The football loving and hardworking Mr Gusha is also an adviser of Bizana Pondo Chiefs which he confirmed that it is Sponsored by the Mbizana municipality with other stakeholders helping the team. Despite all these achievements, there is still no hope of a suitable ground that will meet the standard of a professional level football as the one that is being developed will be maintained for development purposes. “An artificial turf grass that is used automatically disqualifies the Provincial and a National level leagues” – says George. SAFA executive in Bizana is now working in developing under 13, 15 and under 17 football clubs to rectify the mistake of neglecting the need of a proper development in football. George comments that this negligence is also the reason why BafanaBafana have never been able to win AFCON after 1996.
