President Cyril Ramaphosa, delivered the January 8 statement at the old Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane Limpopo, due to the outbreak of the pandemic Covid-19 the event could not take place last year. The January 8 statement draws out the main activities for the year ahead and usually and the year is usually named with task in mind this has been the Parry’s tradition since the first democratic elections in 1994. The biggest question has been whether or not the January 8 statement still holds its significance because the party is discoloured in many ways that one, it has huge internal differences, it currently has a suspended secretary general, it also suffered great loss in the local elections and the corruption allegations that have been on the state capture commission of enquiry. many citizens argue that the party has lost its core values and significance Speaking to ENCA political analyst Lihle Ngcobozi said that, the January 8 statement still holds a cultural resonance not only for the party but for its members of the party as well. She outlined that the January 8 statement shapes the way in which conversational power will play out in very critical years, will the president be able to speak to the confidence of the citizens, will he also be able to retain his sit with the upcoming elections in the upcoming years.

Some of the best local football talent was on display recently at the annual Mbizana soccer tournament after the Wild Coast Sun stepped in as sponsor at the last minute to save the day.

Gusha added that the tournament was critical in keeping the youth active and engaged in positive and affirming activities during the festive season, and also provided the ideal showcase for local football talent to perform in front of scouting networks. The tournament was won by Spears Football Club.

A total of 65 teams from around Bizana and neighboring towns took part in the South African Football Association (Safa) affiliated youth event for all ages over three days from 26-28 December. George Gusha, the Mbizana Local Football Association (LFA) Chairperson, said: “The sponsorship from Wild Coast Sun came at a time when we had lost all hope of continuing this event due to a shortage of sponsorships.
