We urge the people of Winnie Madikizela Mandela local municipality to be patient, Eskom is busy

attending to the issue of load shedding. The office of the mayor, would like to ask the locals not to block roads because that affects the Eskom vehicles and smooth operation of attending to the matter. ESKOM FAILS TO RESTORE POWER FOR THE COMMUNITY OF MFUNELI AND SOME PARTS OF REDOUBT Avuyile Ncanga ...continues from page 1 “the main problem here is that you wait for people to strike and block the roads to send a communique. Letting the people know about such power cuts before hand is important.’ Even Eskom from Bizana should send out communique as soon there is an area affected over a long period. Communication is important.” AddsNkokheli Qhosha People from areas such as Redoubt, and around Bizana have been seen doing road blockades in efforts to forcing Eskom to act urgently to the matter. These road blocks by locals have affected workers who travel in these roads daily such as taxis, mini buses, trucks etc.. One community member from Redoubt says they received help from their ward Councillor Sanele Nomvalo who weighed in on the situation and their issue was resolved. Unfortunately, this has not been the case for the people of Mfuneli because they have had no help for the past two weeks. The community of Mfuneli resorted into a strike in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the people are complaining about the outages stating that, items that require cold storage are being ruined and some had a meat stoakvel if the outages continue their meat will be spoiled. The Community of Mfuneli is demanding an immediate response from Eskom, they have blocked the road preventing cars to pass.

THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION As part of the colonialist civilization mission, customary law was twisted to ensure that indigenous African people's real activities conformed to westernized standards. This was accomplished by accepting such indigenous cultural traditions as long as they were not incompatible with western moral standards, thus excluding practices that they believed were incompatible with civilized society's beliefs. Customary laws were often believed to have evolved organically in reaction to local circumstances and desires, but in practice, they were frequently enforced by the colonial government. They helped to establish what was falsely portrayed as tradition regulation while, in fact, it was the expansion of imperial influence and the growth of the colonial economy. Unfortunately, ukuthwala was one of the traditional cultural rituals that failed the repugnancy test. The colonialists labeled ukuthwala as "bridestealing," "abduction to marry," and "abduction," and even attempted to criminalize it. This was a colonialist effort to regulate aboriginal tribes and eradicate traditional cultural traditions. Amid these shady colonial tactics, ukuthwala continued to be practiced in the Eastern Cape Province's rural areas. It is proposed that ukuthwala, in its original conventional form, is a valid cultural activity used when a barrier to marriage arises. Despite being an unconventional route to marriage, the procedure was tolerated because it reached girls or women of marriageable age. According to Herbst and Du Plessis, customary law does not specify an age limit for marriage, but the group considers puberty and initiation ceremonies as prerequisites for adult approval. In principle, it is asserted that ukuthwala is not a marriage in and of itself, but rather a road to the establishment of a customary marriage if all of the conditions in terms of family negotiations and eventual payment of lobolo, as decided by the families, are fulfilled. In the few cases mentioned, the role of women in the revival of forced and early marriage was noted. Since they were married in the same manner to their prospective partners, women often persuade young girls to approve marriage proposals and accept forced marriage. Other women primarily promote the idea that marriage is a woman's crowning achievement. To ensure that girls are safe from unwanted and early marriages, society must address certain misconceptions. Women have been seen to play an important role in helping men profile and target potential wives. The girls are always persuaded that it is better to marry than to have a child while still at home because their worth would depreciate. Ukuthwala, like other pre-colonial African customary traditions, was a target of colonial pillage and loot, which resulted in the stagnation and degradation of traditional pursuits in colonies.

AMAZULU ENDS SUNDOWNS UNBEATEN PSL LEAGUE RUN Quan Dambuza

Mamelodi Sundowns suffered their first defeat of the DStv Premiership campaign after going down 10 to AmaZulu, who jumped to third spot on Monday night. AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy praised the "bravery" of his players as they inflicted a first defeat on runaway DStv Premiership leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. The result lifted Usuthu to third place on the league standings, level with Orlando Pirates in second and 16 points adrift of Sundowns, who tasted defeat for the first time in the Premiership after 17 matches. "It was super important you know, for everyone who has contributed to his win because like you said it not an individual sport, we always count on every player, once you get the opportunity to play, you’re expected to give everything for the team,” McCarthy told the media. "They couldn't penetrate us where they wanted to, Peter Shalulile was restricted and my defenders were on song, everyone was present.” "Very happy with everyone even the substitutes they came in and made a huge contribution and gave Sundowns their first loss of the season. I guess they will have to wait another season without losing a game and not on my watch while I'm here!” Augustine Mulenga scored the game's only goal at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Monday night for a hard-fought 1-0 win.
