The city of Durres is a mosaic of many special features but, as a result of the latest social and urban changes is being transformed into a not so human-friendly place. Durres as the main port of Albania, quite favorable regarding climate and its geographical position is one of the most attractive points of the Albanian territory. In case of a great number of visitors from Albania and the surrounding regions, the city is unprepared and the lack of services creates a massive amount of chaos during the summer season. To | 96
further develop the services regarding tourism, the development of infrastructure and services for locals is emergent. Taulantia promenade, part of Durres’ rich history, is closely related to the identity of the city itself. The main objective of this diploma thesis is to simultaneously preserve and enrich the identity of the promenade while a future strategy should be envisioned for the economical prosperity of the port.
