Polish Market If there are decisions that can be called “business bull’s eye”, then the decision of Hanover Messe in 1986 on the organization of the CeBIT technology trade fair is certainly one. And it is not about looking at the organizer’s financial statements. There is nothing to worry about here, given that within a few years’ time the event became the world’s leading trade fair, where an ordinary exhibition stand needs to be applied for as early as a year prior to the expo, and a better one even more in advance. It is mostly about the role CeBIT played in the development of the European and world ICT sector, including especially the comprehensive implementation of information technology in all sectors of the global economy. Are we equally attractive when it comes to supply? We do not have a company like Nokia or Siemens, but the Polish ICT sector is made up of hundreds of thousands of businesses which, although rather small, often shine in their respective market niches. Arguably, Polish business service sector counts among European champions, being one of

the magnets attracting foreign direct investments to Poland. We have thousands of companies able to produce top-class software - from entertainment (such as “The Witcher” game) to highly specialized (such as simulators for operators of offshore oil rigs). We also have companies that - like ABC Data - are already the leaders of the equipment distribution market, at least in Central and Eastern Europe. Are we able to show it to the world? CeBIT is a great window of opportunity which can be used even better now that its importance has been recognized by the Ministry of Economy. Last year, Poland had a national stand, which benefited Polish exhibitors. The Ministry’s debut was so successful that Poland got promoted to become one of the strategic partners of CeBIT 2013. Our exhibitors will be able to showcase their products under the slogan “Do it with Poland” at Polish national booths in as many as four specialized pavilions. And, we know it, they can attract the world’s interest. We, in Poland, know that. :: Krystyna Woźniak-Trzosek Editor-in-Chief President Rynek Polski Publishers Co. Ltd.
