“[The program] was designed to meet the needs of arts-oriented teens, but also those less familiar with arts,” Donnelly said. “It was really important that this was something that would provide an opportunity to those who maybe didn’t know so much about the arts and didn’t feel like they could afford to be interested.” urging her peers to check out the latest Wells Fargo ArtsVibe events, even when they don’t want to hear about them. “Getting teens into [it] that aren’t involved is the difficult thing,” she says. “It’s hard to put yourself out there.” Unlike on stage, she doesn’t have to put on an act when she talks about the council, her love of comedic theater and the arts in general. “When you’re really passionate about it and people see that, it might trigger something in their mind like, ‘Maybe I can do that.’” The program’s next big event, “Voices & Vibes,” will take place on the WAC campus on April 26 and 27 and will serve as both a showcase for local teens and a “coming out party” for ArtsVibe.
