Occasionally, the world of spycraft heaves up a mystery which feels like it’s been shaken loose from the pages of a particularly lurid spy novel. The death of Gareth Williams in 2010 was exactly that: he was found in the bath in his flat in Pimlico, his body inside a red kitbag which had been locked from the outside. The keys were in the bag. There didn’t seem to be any sign of another person in the flat. What happened to this precocious young man? Dr Sian Williams investigates.

The monologues have become duologues this time, and we get to hear the affinity between activists, trailblazers and creatives. This episode pairs writers Juno Dawson and Nicola Dinan as they talk about the importance of approaching writing with authenticity. The title references the responsibility that writers - both cis and trans - have to serve their characters and audience.

Perhaps the most critically lauded British podcasts of them all returns for a fourth space-bending, free-thinking series, and this time looks out to Africa for a run of episodes under the banner of ‘After Empire’. Ghana’s struggle for freedom from colonial rule features, but the exploration of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s former dominance of African music – and how it ties into the country’s economic dysfunction – is a typically imaginative way into storytelling from George the Poet.
