Many students have expressed interest in changing or altogether DESERTING the ban on gum in school. Students feel the reasons for the BAN are OLD and IRRELEVANT. Many adults and supporters of the ban weigh in saying that the students have NOT shown they could be responsible with gum and would DISRESPECT the campus. Q: Do you think the rule on gum should change? Why?
A: “Yes I think the gum rule should change because it could be really therapeutic for people and can help them concentrate in class if they are having a hard time and that's just a way to keep them concentrated and sometimes it helps me when I get anxious and it keeps me concentrated when I'm doing my work, but it's understandable why it's banned, I think it should be unbanned.”

Q: Do you see the gum rule changing in the near future?
it only is a rule in school it doesn't really change in public you can still put gum everywhere so I don't really see the point in it so I think it's not really gonna change anything.”

Q: If the gum ban was lifted what do you think would happen?
A: ”I feel like a lot more people would have gum. I don't think it would be like a huge problem. I just feel like people would just throw it away more because I think because we have a gum rule people don't want to throw it away so you find gum on the floor and people might suspect it if you throw it away in the trash there probably won't be as much gum on the floor and under desks and stuff. I think people would have it more but I don't think it would be like a huge distraction. I know that some people use it to focus better."

Q: Do you think students could be responsible with gum if the ban is lifted?
A:I think most students would be responsible with gum if the ban is lifted. Most students already have gum with them and you don't know it besides that you can see them chewing but they don't do anything with it besides throw it away when they're done.”
A: "I don't really see it changing, but Page14
