Meet Larry Supon Automated Lifestyles Can you provide our readers with a brief background of your company, years in business, etc. as well as your professional background before opening Automated Lifestyles? Automated Lifestyles was started in 2000 (16 years ago). Our goal was to automate (and therefore simplify) our customer’s lifestyle so they didn’t need to worry about leaving the water valve open or frozen pipes if the heating unit failed. Today, they manage everything—including security, cameras, temperature (to warm up the house prior to arrival), audio/ video equipment, lights, door locks and more from their smart phone. More importantly, they can make a single phone call and we can handle all electronics including hooking up TVs, sound systems, Wi-Fi. Our technicians are well-trained, professional, and we are certified by CEDIA (Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association). Prior to starting Automated Lifestyles, I was an electrical and automation engineer for a company who built cement plants and gold/copper/diamond mining facilities.

For those owning a second home in Pocono Pines, specifically what services does your company offer that meet the needs of those looking for safety, convenience, and enjoyment? Our customers press a single button on their phone to arm security, shutoff the water, lower the heat set point, turn off ceiling fans or lights, turn off all TVs and AV equipment and lock the door. Vehicle detectors, unlike motion detectors which can be activated by animals, alert them if someone pulls into the driveway so they can check the cameras instantly. Lighting control randomly can turn on a few lights to make a dark home look lived-in. If they have contractors, they can unlock the door remotely without leaving a key there or giving away the alarm code. When at the lake, you can enjoy Wi-Fi at the beach, music on the deck, surround sound for late night movies and just a single remote control to turn on your entertainment system! While all of this may sound complicated, it’s actually easier than having 6 remotes to operate your TV system for example.

Are there specific services that you offer for those looking to make their home more energy efficient? We take energy efficiency seriously. We offer smart thermostats, automated window shades (which can help stop intense sun in summer to help AC bills yet let in sun during the winter), lighting control that dims lights so they aren’t on at 100%, and music amplifiers that automatically shut-off 5 minutes after no music is played. For someone interested in your services, what’s a starting budget amount that you could work within? The best thing about our products is that you can start small and build on the system over time. Typical starting budgets are $3000. Are there any visual demonstrations you can provide for anyone wanting to learn more? Yes, we have a video on our home page (www.Automated-Lifestyles.com) with an overview of the technology and capabilities.
