Beth loved her family, her dogs and the Seattle Seahawks. She spent her years of retirement traveling between two homes with her loving husband, Joe, in Sun Lakes, Arizona and Arlington, Washington. Beth w a s a d e v o t e d m o t h e r, grandmother and wife. She especially loved to spend time with her granddaughter, Alysia. B et h i s s u r v i ve d by h e r sons, John and Jason; her granddaughter, Alysia; her sister, Ann; husband, Joe; and her two dogs, Bella and Bailey. Beth was everybody’s best f r i e n d . S h e wa s l ove d by everybody who met her. She was one of a kind and will be deeply missed. She will stay in our hearts forever.

Wanda June Williams (Lakey) Evans Wanda June Williams (Lakey) Evans passed away peacefully on August 16, 2 01 5 , i n L a k e S t e v e n s , Wash. W a n d a w a s b o r n September 2, 1930, in Tw i s p , Wa s h . to B e n a n d Lois Jean Williams. She m ove d to E ve r e t t , Wa s h . with her family in 1944 and graduated from Everett High School in 1948. She continued her education at Everett Community College taking courses in the medical field. She was very proud of her service to the Lake Stevens community: ser ving in the PTA for many years (earning her a Golden Acorn Award) and served as the City Clerk. She also held various administrative positions at GTE of Everett, and then at t h e D e p t . o f A r my a t F t . Lewis and Madigan until her retirement. W a n d a m a r r i e d h e r husband, Richard (Dick) Evans in 1972. They lived in Tacoma, Wash. for 43 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Lois Williams; her husband, Dick. a n d h e r b r o t h e r, W a y n e Williams. She is sur vived by three children, Kathy Davis, Tom Lakey (Debbie), Ken Lakey (Karen; Seven step-children, Richard M. Evans, Rober t Evans (Tammy), David Evans (Beverly), Dennis Evans (Deborah), Patti Eggleston (Richard), Victoria Evans, and Lawrence Evans; siblings, Richard Williams (Gloria), Joyce Bonner (Robert), Charlotte Brackett; a n d n u m e r o u s grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her companion Tank. One of Wanda’s greatest joys was her family, which was evident to all who spoke with her. This love of her family showed in her words and actions. She also loved to crochet afghans and baby clothes for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and spent many year s baking cakes and candies for holidays and special occasions. She enjoyed comparing her Christmas cookies and c a n d i e s w i t h h e r s i s t e r, Joyce, every year. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral ser vices will be held September 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. in Twisp, WA at the Beaver Creek Cemetery, 18 Lower Beaver Creek Road. There will also be a ser vice for Richard and Wanda at Sullivan Cemetery in Winthrop at 4 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Everett, WA on S e p te m b e r 2 6 , 2 01 5 , a t Delta Baptist Church on the corner of 16th and Pine at 1 p.m. I n l i e u o f f l o w e r s , donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research at orcf.org, Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.

Virginia Kleppe Lee passed away August 18, 2015, in Edmonds, Wash. following a short illness. S h e w a s b o r n o n N o v e m b e r 2 5 , 1 91 9 , i n Sioux Rapids, Iowa to Ludvig a n d L o u i s a , a n d wa s t h e youngest of five daughters. S h e g r a d u a te d f ro m S t . Olaf College in Minnesota with a music degree, and taught school before earning a nursing degree from Johns H o p k i n s U n i v e r s i t y. S h e served as an Army nurse in WWII at Walter Reed Army Medical Hospital. After the war, she earned a masters degree in public health nursing from Case Western R e s e r v e U n i v e r s i t y, a n d worked in Oberlin, Ohio and Brooklyn, N.Y. She applied for a job as a school nurse in the Everett School District, having never been to Washington State, and got the job. She met and married Ar t Lee in 1955, after meeting through mutual friends. They were married 57 years, until his death in 2013. Virginia joined the labor and delivery staff at Stevens Memorial Hospital when it opened in 1964, and retired as evening supervisor there in 1982. She and Art enjoyed traveling the world in retirement, and moved into Brighton Court in 2001. There they enjoyed a busy schedule of activities such as beanbag baseball and Wii bowling. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and watching Mariner games, as well as playing Scrabble with her daughter and grandsons. S h e i s s u r v i ve d by s o n , Tom (Ruth), their children, E r i n , K r i s t e n a n d Ke r r y ; d a u g h te r, S u s a n ( D e a n ) , their children, John and Ryan; son, Mark, his children, Hanna and Kemper a n d h i s w i fe , D o r i . A l s o surviving her are niece, Mary Rem and nephews, Lowell and Richard Kleppe. Donald, beloved husband and father, lef t us September 5, 2015, for his Heavenly home af ter a lengthy illness, which he so bravely endured. Don was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 25, 1933. He graduated from Mattawan High School in Michigan in 1952, where he excelled in football, b a s ke t b a l l , b a s e b a l l a n d track, as the state champion in the 880 yard dash and school record holder for 10 yrs. He ser ved with great pride in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New London, Conn. on the Submarine USS Tusk from 1952 to 1956. While in Michigan, he worked for the Kalamazoo Gazette. In 1968 he moved to Bothell, Wash. and worked as a printer at the Seattle Times until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, S h i r l ey, o f 6 0 ye a r s , h i s children, Marjorie Scarsorie ( J i m ) o f M u k i l te o , D i a n a Roberts (Kevin) of Marysville and Kelly Askew (Dave) of Ly n n w o o d , Wa s h . ; s e v e n grandchildren, Nick and Rachel Scarsorie, Kameron and Kaylene Rober ts and A u s t i n , A my a n d A n d r e w Askew, all of whom he called his “pride and joy”. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel; as well as his three brothers, Bill, Barney and Richard; and his sister, Joan. He leaves several nieces and nephews, as well. D o n a l d was an exceptionally generous and humble man who had a loving hear t for his family and for those in need, continually giving of his time and resources. He blessed us in countless ways, including his sense of humor, gift for gab and by truly inspiring us with his great endurance and grit. He w i l l b e m i s s e d i m m e a s u r a b l y. G r ave s i d e services will be held at 1:00 on Monday, September 14th at Purdy Walters Floral Hills in Lynnwood.

Floyd James Welborn, 86, of Arlington, Wash. passed away of a hear t attack on September 4, 2015. Floyd was born on June 4, 1929 in Lake Stevens, Wa s h to F l oy d a n d J a n et Welborn. He attended Lake S teve n s H i g h S c h o o l a n d went on to become a Correctional Officer for the Monroe Correctional Facility where he was officer of the year in 1988. He worked there for 27 years before retiring in 1990. In his free time, Floyd was a char ter member of the community club (Sisco Heights), a vo l u n te e r f i r e f i g h te r fo r district 22 (Getchell), and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and dancing. He was married on Januar y 13, 1 9 51 t o J a n e t ( O s b o r n ) Welborn and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together. Floyd is preceded in death by his son, Raymond Welborn. He is survived by his sons, Te r r y We l b o r n o f E . Wenatchee, Wash., Duane Welborn of Arlington, Wash., Randy Welborn of E. Wenatchee; brothers, Dick Welborn of Yuma, Ariz., and Ro n We l b o r n o f M o n ro e , Wash.; sister, Marion Day of Lake Stevens; as well as seven grandchildren, f ive great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. Robert Richard Erdman 79 Years of Life

A resident of Deer Park, Washington, formerly of Ly n d e n , W a s h . , p a s s e d away on September 4, 2015. He is the dear husband of Ruth M. Erdman, and the loving father of Michael Wyatt Erdman of Boise, Idaho, Julene Rober ta and Bob Conselyea of Waynesville, North Carolina, and Sandra Denise and Jeff Pygott of Carlisle, Pa.. Rober t is a brother and brother-in-law of Alvin “Sonny” Erdman of Spokane, Wash., Walt Erdman of Othello, Wash., Dorothy Look of Kennewick, Wash., Lillian Leroy of O t h e l l o , P a u l i n e S to l p o f Lolo, Mont., Caroline Sharp of Columbia Falls, Mont., Irene Brownfield of Otis Orchards, Wash., and Linda Stewart of Spokane Valley, Wash.. He enjoyed five grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. There are numerous nieces and nephews. Born in 1936 in Lind, Wash., Robert was employed with Boeing Aircraft as a mechanic and tube welder for 40 years, retiring in 1995. His hobby was collecting belt buckles. He was a member of the Aerospace Union, and he and Ruth were active members of the Assemblies of God Church attending the Tri-County Christian Center in Deer Park. Nadine Loverne Sayles (Potter) Nadine Sayles passed away on August 26, 2015 in E ve r et t , Wa s h i n g to n . s h e w a s b o r n i n Wa s h o u g a l , Wa s h i n g t o n o n J u n e 11 , 1934, the daughter of Manford (Bud) and Lola Potter. She is survived by her four children, Doug Sayles and wife, Katy of Spokane, Wash., Danni Palmer and husband, Dave of Richland, Wa s h . , D av i d S ay l e s a n d wife, Theresa of Edmonds, Wash., and Dean Sayles and wife, Ursula of Lake S teve n s , Wa s h . S h e a l s o leaves behind six grandchildren, Lauren P a l m e r, L i n d e y P a l m e r, Kaelyn Sayles, Allison Sayles, Conner Sayles and Colby Sayles. Nadine will be remembered as a wonder ful, loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and being a caring, attentive mom and grandma. She will also be remembered for her warm heart, great sense of humor and creativity. She found great joy in the arts, painting and ballroom dancing. In lieu of flowers Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s association of Washington.

Ken E. Rice O n S e p te m b e r 5 , 2 015 , surrounded by his wife, Rosario, Ken passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer, he was 84. A local boy who grew up in Everett, Wash. Ken loved boating, gardening and hunting. Ken had many adventures such as serving in the United States Army, vacationing in Europe, but his favorite place to visit was Mexico. Ken now continues on his next adventure. Family and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service at the Marysville Cemetery on Fr i d ay, S e p te m b e r 11, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. Following the graveside service a celebration of his life will be held at the clubhouse at the La Tierra M o b i l e H o m e P a r k 4 4 01 80Th St NE Marysville, WA.

As in everything she faced in life she took on this challenge with a positive “I am gonna win” spirit, which she will be remembered for. She was a very fun, loving, c a r i n g , m o t h e r, s i s t e r, daughter and friend to many. She is sur vived by her father, Bob Shane; brothers, Brian and Bobby; sisters, Karol and Cindy; and her sons, Billy and Bradley; and her three grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday September 13, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Buzz Inn Steakhouse in Snohomish at Har vey’s Field.

Dad, When I hear the sound of a lawnmower going or the smell of fresh cut grass… I think of you. When the Holidays come and you are not here with your enthusiasm and joy … I think of you. When I hear someone say “Dammit Jim” (Who knew there were so many people named Jim?! Ha ha)… I think of you. When I hear the phrase “Just another pretty face”… I think of you. When I pass ball fields with little league baseball games going on, I remember you coaching Nick and our road trips to the games in Montana… I think of you. When it’s Father’s Day and everyone is buying cards and you are not around for me to get one for, I still read them and cry… I think of you. When mom is sad or lonely and needs you to “bounce things of f of”… I think of you. Dad, they say it gets easier with time but after 12 years I still find myself wishing you were here. It’s in the little things that I miss you most and at the same time give me the greatest comfor t; and just in case I never told you, I am truly grateful for your love and positive attitude about life and I am proud to have had you as my dad.
