McTuff rocks the Rock
SPACECRAFT welcomes McTuff to Rolling Bay Hall at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13.
Friday, March 6, 2015 - Bainbridge Island Review
McTuff has been named one of “The 50 bands rocking Seattle Music Right Now” by Seattle Magazine. And the Stranger said: “Forty-five years ago, Seattle trio McTuff would’ve been stars on Blue Note Records: guitarist Andy Coe, organist Joe Doria, and drummer Tarik Abouzied possess Olympian skills on their instruments, and they put their talent toward epic soul-jazz and funk-rock compositions that make old and young alike break out their most exhibitionist dance moves.” Opening for McTuff is Bad Luck, “powerful and virtuosic; cutting-edge music,” says All About Jazz. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Rolling Bay Hall is at 10598 NE Valley Road. Info: Visit spacecraft presents.org.
‘Snow Falling On Cedars’
Bainbridge Performing Arts presents “Snow Falling on Cedars” at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays, from March 13 through March 29. A pay-what-you-can preview is 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, and the opening night reception is 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 13. Against the backdrop of an America torn by World War II, cultures and communities clash when a Japanese American islander is accused of murder. This hauntingly lyrical saga — adapted from David Guterson’s acclaimed story of mystery, love and identity — deftly shifts from
courtroom to strawberry fields to bloody battlefront, digging for hard truths buried in a forgotten history. Tickets are $27 for adults, $22 for seniors, and $19 for students, youth, military and teachers, and may be purchased online at www. bainbridgeperforming arts.org, by phone at 206-842-8569 or in person at BPA, 200 Madison Ave. North. Box office hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and one hour prior to each performance.
Benefit book sale

Wind Burial comes to BI
Wind Burial will play Bainbridge in a SPACECRAFT show at Rolling Bay Hall on Saturday, March 14. Wind Burial is a psych-rock quartet formed in Seattle in March 2013 featuring members of the band Snowdrift (Paradigms Records UK). The Stranger describes: “Seattle quartet Wind Burial’s Kat Terran sings in a rich, melancholy tone over tempered tempests of night-desert rock. Subtle elements of psychedelia and folk seep into the songwriting, which aims for and mostly attains profundity. If this initial batch of tunes is any indication, we have much to look forward to.” Hungry Cloud Darkening —
recently featured on NPR — will be opening. All Songs Considered said: “a whisper-quiet soprano over a bouncing bassline and muddied percussion made sinister by droning keyboards. It’s part bummer Beach Boys, part Twin Peaks soundtrack (good timing, given the cult TV show’s imminent return), in that moment when the mind’s eye can’t quite make sense of what stares down at you from the ceiling.” Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Rolling Bay Hall is at 10598 NE Valley Road. Info: Visit spacecraft presents.org.
