ahoma dominated in a double dual league wrestling meet Dec. 18 when it hosted Thomas Jefferson and Kentwood. There were bright spots for Kentwood in the 53-16 loss to Tahoma, though, such as Dalton Meyers 8-0 win over Justin Weiding at 145 while Austin Duncan defeated Aaron Vaughan 5-3 in overtime in the 285

pound match and Tanner Abarnathy pinned Nick Palandri in the first period of the 220 pound contest. For Tahoma, Austin Jones pinned Dylan Hill in one minute, 32 seconds in the 106 pound match, at 113 pounds Dylan Weiding defeated Andy Sandhu, Nick Whitehead recorded a pin in with 20 seconds left in the first period against Kentwood’s Daniel Castro at 120 and Justin Sipila pinned Eathen Olive in 37 seconds. The Bears added

wins by Todd Link at 138, Sean Hanson at 152, OJ Jenkins at 160, Tucker Mjelde at 170, Adam Hokenson at 182 and Cooper Thomas at 195. Against Thomas Jefferson Jones, Dylan Weiding, Whitehead, Sipila, Cruz Velasquez, Todd Link, Justin Weiding, Hanson and Hokenson all recorded pins as Tahoma cruised to a 72-4 victory. On the same night, Kentlake hosted Auburn and Auburn Riverside, losing

both, however Nick Smith, John Yarbrough and Josh Beckler provided highlights for the Falcons wrestlers in the dual against Auburn. Smith, wrestling at 120, was down 5-1 in the second period before scoring a flurry of points to cut it to 5-4 against his opponent from Auburn. Then with 1:23 left in the third period Smith scored a reversal to take the lead which he held onto for the 6-5 decision. Beckler capped off the night with the final match

at 160 by pinning his opponent in 34 seconds. Next up for Tahoma was the Tri-State Tournament Dec. 20-21 at North Idaho College. Kentlake and Kentwood, on the other hand, will wrestle next at the South Puget Sound League All Division tournament set for Dec. 30-31 at Auburn High.
