Community

BRIEFS

Community planning day Oct. 19 Community members are invited to participate in the second Community Planning Day to be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, to hear how their ideas have been integrated into several long-range plans, to express their thoughts on the vision of Kirkland’s future, to weigh in on concepts for the Cross Kirkland Corridor and Totem Lake Park, and to share ideas on transportation issues that will affect the City in the coming 20 years. By participating in the Community Visioning Exercise participants can share their vision for Kirkland’s future housing, transportation, environment and economy. Sessions will be held at 10:30 a.m. and again at 12:00 p.m. Attendees can also learn the latest on the Cross Kirkland Corridor Master Plan and comment on proposed

design concepts in two interactive sessions to be held at 10:30 a.m. and again at 12:00 p.m. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Peter Kirk Community Center, 352 Kirkland Avenue. Event details are available at www.kirklandwa.gov/kirkland2035. “This second Community Planning Day will be different than the first event held in June because it is the city’s opportunity to reflect back what we heard over the past few months,” explains Deputy City Manager Marilynne Beard. “We’re excited to show the many ideas about how best to plan for Kirkland over the next 20 years are now featured in several longrange plans.” In March 2013, the City of Kirkland launched its “Kirkland 2035: Your Voice. Your Vision. Your Future.” public involvement campaign to encourage residents, business, students and community members to share their ideas on the future of the City. Public input can be given online at www.ideasforum. kirklandwa.gov or by emailing kirkland2035@kirklandwa.gov.
