Vashon wrestlers qualify for national tournament High school wrestlers Chase Wickman and Shane Armstrong competed in the Western regional/national wrestling championships in Las Vegas, April 17 through 19. The competition featured many of the best young wrestlers in the country. Both wrestlers represented the Pin City Vashon Island club well. Wickman, a freshman, placed third in the Greco Roman tournament and second in the freestyle tournament for his weight class, only losing to a superstar All American in both styles. Armstrong, a junior, placed fourth in Greco Roman and eighth in freestyle for his weight class Both wrestlers fought fiercely and technically, beating many of the country’s best wrestlers and qualifying for the national tournament to be held this summer in Fargo, North Dakota.
