Motorcyclist charged with breach of trust, regains freedom

Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, has discharged a 21-year-old trader, Yahaya Musa, charged with criminal breach of trust, after allegedly absconding with his employer’s motorcycle. The Senior Judge, GarbaOgbede, discharged the defendant following an application by the Prosecutor, UkohaNdidi, who prayed the court to strike out the case because the parties had settled out of court. Ogbede said ``having heard the prosecution’s application to strike out the case as a result of settlement reached by both parties in the matter, the case is hereby struck out.’’ He said that the complainant had also written for the voluntary withdrawal of the matter and did not want any further trouble with the defendant. He added that ``the First Information Report (FIR) is hereby struck out and the defendant discharged. ``The defendant is also discharged of all criminal charges.’’ He, however, warned Musa to desist from committing any criminal acts in future. Earlier, Musa, who was charged with criminal breach of trust, for allegedly absconding with Boxer Bajaj motorcycle valued 225,000 belonging to Mrs. AminaShehu of Lugbe Zone 7, Abuja, denied the allegation. NAN reports that the prosecutor told the court that the defendant, of Lugbe zone 7, Airport Road, Abuja, was arraigned on a one-count charge of criminal breach of trust. She said Musa absconded with the complainant’s motorcycle which she gave him for hire purchase to unknown destination. The prosecuting counsel said that during police investigation, Musa confessed committing the crime which contravened Section 312 of the Penal Code.

This was against the backdrop of a routine maintenance of its facility in Tank

2, Katampe District, carried out yesterday by the officials of the FCT Water Board, which disrupted water supply to the affected areas. Astatement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Muhammad Sule, noted that the maintenance work is to ensure uninterrupted supply of water to all residents of the Territory, assuring that normal water supply would be restored today (Friday). “The FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa

the chairman-elect, Adamu Mustapha, elected on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). Speaking during the inauguration of the committee, the APGA chairman in the area, Mr. Solomon Umezuruike,

said the committee was charged to identify the budget appropriation of 2015 in the council as well as to mastermind a preliminary assessment of the implementation of capital projects and to fish out the contractors involved. He pointed out that the

committee would assess the Area Council contractual obligations and its ability to cope with such obligations. “The committee shall further provide a brief overview of relevant consultants, sources of revenue generation, clash flow and employment from

2013 to date among others,” Umezuruike said. Peoples Daily reports that some of the APGA members interviewed after the inauguration of the committee, expressed satisfaction over the committee being set-up by the party.
