aramount and Skydance Productions’ Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation is off to a record-breaking start in China, where it opened to $18.5 million recently. Ultron ($29.2 million) and fellow Paramount titles Transformers: Age of Extinction ($27.4 million) andTerminator Genisys ($26.7 million). Rogue Nation’s openingday take of $18.5 million is 116 percent ahead of the first-day gross ofMission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol, which earned north of $100 million in China.

Sam Smith confirmed to sing ‘inspirational’ new James Bond theme for Spectre

S

am Smith has been confirmed to sing the theme tune for upcoming James Bond movie Spectre. The multi-platinum selling singer has co-written “Writing’s On the Wall” with fellow Grammy winner Jimmy Napes. It is the first James Bond theme recorded by a British male solo artist since Tom Jones did “Thunderball” in 1965. Smith has described the prestigious job as “one of the highlights” of his career. “I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song,” he said. “I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line-up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it.” Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, Spectre producers, have called Smith’s song “inspirational” and “surely one of the greatest Bond songs of all time”.

Smith self-confirmed the news on Monday afternoon when he tweeted a black and white photo of himself wearing a ring with the SPECTRE octopus logo engraved into it.

I won’t say no to James Bond role- Tom Hardy

T

om Hardy has revealed he would not turn down the role of James Bond, if he was offered it. The Dark Knight Rises star is one of the actors rumoured to take over the part of 007 from Daniel Craig, alongside the likes of Idris Elba, Adrian Lester and David Beckham, after Daniel hinted the 24th film, Spectre, could be his last outing as the Secret Service agent. “I think a question like that is certain death for anybody who would be interested in playing that part, do you know what I mean?” the 37-year-old actor said. “So I don’t know whether to say yes or no to it… I wouldn’t say no.” Tom batted away the stories as speculation, however. “Yeah rumours, myths circulated by people who don’t know what’s going on but that’s probably gambling talk,” he said, adding: “There’s been no serious conversation.” Tom next stars as gangster twins Ronnie and Reggie Kray in Brian Helgeland’s biopic, Legend. He admitted playing Reggie was more challenging than his brother, who was certified insane. “Ronnie was a walk in the park. I was a bit less confident

in playing Reggie to be fair,” he explained. “I find straight leads really quite complicated because they don’t do anything. Things happen to them and they respond to the environment. It’s quite plod, plod, plod and a bit A, B, C and kinda boring. “But I wanted to please Brian and come through and thank God, it was a primary source and a real person and there’s plenty of imagery to work from but there’s no real vocal silhouette or landscape.” The actor continued: “It’s very easy to play Ronnie because there’s an unpredictability to him so my brain can start to respond in a dramatic environment to that

Tom Hardy

type of mechanism. I like to be open about what my motivations are in character, does that make sense? “So Ronnie, if he says, ‘I want to rule the world’, it’s ‘How’s he gonna do it?’ but if it’s Reggie, ‘I want to leave the game and settle down and have kids and go straight’, I found that a bit confusing and ultimately it is confusing in the film. “I couldn’t tie-in to that, I couldn’t believe it so I have my own opinion on Reggie and Ronnie. Ronnie was much more honest to play, Reggie, it was much more, ‘Is that really the way he’d go’ and my inner bulls**t monitor was I’m not sure he’s that guy.”

Nick Gordon and Bobbi Kristina Brown

N

ick Gordon has filed to have a wrongful death lawsuit related to the passing of Bobbi Kristina Brown dismissed. The 24-year-old star’s lawyers have submitted court documents arguing an amended suit brought on by the late starlet’s coconservator Bedelia Hargrove, contains “several unsupported conclusory, untrue, criminal accusations that Defendant Nicholas Gordon committed acts that he simply did not do.” Bobbi Kristina died on July 26, almost six months after she was found unresponsive in the bathtub in the home she shared with Nick and her co-conservator claims the aspiring singer’s boyfriend had given her a “toxic cocktail rendering her unconscious”, an allegation he denies. However, the documents, which were filed yesterday (08.09.15), state Nick “admits that the parties went out on the night in question, that he reviewed video footage and then had an argument with Ms. Brown and that he then

changed clothes.” He also tried to “wake up” Bobbi Kristina and performed CPR after she was found unresponsive. The lawsuit against Nick, which is seeking $10 million in damages, also claim he physically abused Bobbi, knocking her teeth out and dragging her upstairs by her hair, as well as trying to “control” her and “benefit from her wealth”, all allegations which his attorney’s have denied in their documents to have the case dismissed. Nick’s lawyer has slammed the lawsuit as “slanderous and meritless”. Attorney Jose Baez told USA Today: “The recent lawsuit against Nick is slanderous and meritless. Nick has been heartbroken and destroyed over the loss of his love and it’s shameful that such baseless allegations have been presented publicly. “Nick has engaged civil counsel and intends to defend the lawsuit vigorously and expose it for what it is: a fictitious assault against the person who loved Krissy most.”
