olombia captain James Rodriguez is nursing a shoulder injury and will miss their Copa America Group A match against Paraguay today, the Colombian Football Federation (FCF) said. James, who fell awkwardly and dislocated his shoulder during Colombia’s 2-0 win over hosts the United States at Santa Clara on Friday, misses the match at the

Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The Real Madrid midfielder, one of several leading players with injury woes at the centenary tournament including Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Uruguay’s Luis Suarez, could return against Costa Rica in Houston on Saturday. Edwin Cardona, who was a starter against the US alongside James, is his possible replacement in a playmaking role.

Evra signs one-year contract with Juventus

u v e n t u s d e f e n d e r Patrice Evra has signed a new oneyear contract with the club, with the option for a further year. The experienced France international, who joined from Manchester United in 2014, will be contracted to the Serie A champions until at least the end of the 2016-17 campaign. “Patrice Evra has today renewed his Juventus contract for an additional year - with an option for a second - keeping him at the Turin club until at least June 30, 2017,” a statement

released by the club confirmed. Evra has claimed back-to-back domestic doubles in Italy since bringing an eight-year spell at Old Trafford to an end. The 35-yearold, who confirmed last month that a two-year contract extension had been provisionally agreed, is determined to lift more silverware before calling time on his career in Turin. “I joined last season and I had a pact with the club: to be champions of Italy on two occasions. I’m very happy but there is still more to win.

“If I get chosen to play in that position I will do so for the benefit of my team,” Cardona told reporters in Los Angeles. James, injured midway through the second half, converted a 42nd-minute penalty for Colombia’s second goal against the US after Cristian Zapata had given them an early lead. Neymar, Warriors star exchange jerseys

N

BA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry swapped jerseys with Brazilian football star Neymar on Sunday after Curry helped the Golden State Warriors rout Cleveland 110-77 in the NBA Finals. NBA scoring champion Curry made the exchange shortly after the defending NBA champions seized a 2-0 lead in the best-ofseven championship series, which resumes Wednesday in Cleveland. Curry’s Brazilian teammates, Leandro Barbosa and Anderson Varejao, also received autographed jerseys from the 24-year-old Brazilian striker, a spectator for the blowout of LeBron James and company. Neymar had been in the Rose Bowl on Saturday along such Hollywood celebrities as Justin Bieber and Jamie Foxx to watch Brazil play Ecuador to a goal-less draw in Copa America Centenario, the special 100th anniversary edition of the South American football championship being staged in US stadiums. Neymar is skipping the Copa to focus on the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in August, where he’ll try to help Brazil claim one of the few trophies it lacks in football, Olympic gold.

he 42-yearold former club physio’s employment tribunal began yesterday, while Jose Mourinho is expected to give evidence Former Chelsea physio Eva Carneiro rejected a settlement offer of £1.2 million before her employment tribunal, official documents have revealed. C a r n e i r o ’ s tribunal began in Croydon on Monday with the case expected to run over seven to 10 days. The 42-year-

old doctor was publicly criticised by Mourinho for running on to the pitch to treat Eden Hazard in the closing stages of Chelsea’s draw with Swansea City on the opening day of the season last August. Carneiro, who was called “impulsive and naive” by Mourinho, was then stripped of her first-team duties before she left the club in September. Chelsea has confirmed that an “open offer” of £1.2m has been made Carneiro as a settlement fee.
