The new home of Semiahmoo Arts is officially open for business, following a ceremony there Saturday. Arts groups have been using the 960-square-foot studio space at Mel Edwards Centre, at White Rock’s Centennial Park, for several months. “A lot of our weekends are filling up, and there’s more room in here during the week,” said Melissa Sumner, hired as Semiahmoo Arts’ manager around four months ago. “We’ve had lots of uses in different ways, and we already have bookings into the fall that are for writers’ clubs and things like that.” Several months ago, Semiahmoo Arts moved to the renovated building from a storefront gallery space at Windsor Square mall. The former cardiac-rehab facility, once considered for demolition, has been used by Peninsula Productions as rehearsal space for its July run of The Mousetrap at Coast Capital Playhouse, and for an exhibit
