Kathy Walcott (above) travelled to Peru recently, and participated in a group tour that took her to the sacred Machu Picchu. It’s a pre-Columbian 15th-century Inca site located 2,430 metres above sea level. It’s believed the Inca started building this estate in AD 1400, and was rediscovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911. Meanwhile, the Berard family (right) of Maple Ridge recently made a trek to B.C.’s famous gold rush town, Barkerville, where Alexa, 15, Miranda, 12, and Danica, eight, posed with a copy of their hometown newspaper.
