Fun Beyond the Green

The 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open at The Vancouver Golf Club will be a chance for spectators to do more than just watch a world class golf event.

When the CN Canadian Women’s Open comes to The Vancouver Golf Club this August 20-26, it will involve more than just golf. Sure, internamonal superstars from the LPGA Tour will gather in Coquitlam, B.C. to show oe their skills and treat spectators to world class golf, but beyond the swinging clubs and farlying golf balls, there is even more fun to be found onsite during the tournament. With free admission for juniors age 17 and under and mckets priced as low as $25 for adults, the CN Canadian Women’s Open is a fun and aeordable family oumng that appeals to all ages. Beyond watching the world’s best golfers compete, it is a chance to introduce children to the game of a lifemme, all while enjoying the picturesque surroundings at one of the country’s knest golf courses. Onsite acmvimes like the Junior Golf Skills Challenge cater to all skill levels by allowing juniors and adults to test their

chipping, driving, and pugng skills in pursuit of prizes and the thrill of seeing their name on the Leaderboard. In addimon, junior golfers can ajend the free LPGA Superstar Clinic on Tuesday, August 21 hosted by some of the world’s best female golfers. “We’re bringing world-class golf to the Coquitlam community and when spectators arrive onsite, there will be something for everyone,” said Sean Van Kesteren, Tournament Director of the CN Canadian Women’s Open. “With more than 1,200 volunteers and onsite acmvimes for adults and juniors of all ages, this is a big event coming to Coquitlam and I’m sure the response from the community will be fantasmc.” Beyond the event fanfare and fun, there is an important charitable element to the CN Canadian Women’s Open. Since 2006, the CN Miracle Match program has raised $6.5 million in host communimes of the CN Canadian Women’s Open. This year, a pormon of

any regular-priced mcket will go toward the charity, and spectators will have an opportunity buy a CN Miracle Match lanyard on site to gain exclusive access to spectator grandstand on the 18th green. Funds raised will go towards a charity near and dear the hearts of the cimzens of Brimsh Columbia: the BC Children’s Hospital. “Community-minded partners like CN and Golf Canada play an important role in keeping BC Children’s Hospital at the forefront of pediatric medicine,” said Teri Nicholas, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundamon. “Funds raised though the CN MiracleMatchprogram will help us ensure we conmnue to provide the best health care possible for our children today and in the future.” The Vancouver area has experienced its fair share of impressive spormng events, between the 2010 Olympics and the stars of the PGA Tour compemng in the RBC Canadian Open at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club last year. This mme, it’s the LPGA Tour players taking their talents to Canada’s west coast, and despite their fame and success on the course, these golkng stars are

approachable and fan-friendly. Be sure to take along that autograph book! Pracmce rounds and Pro-Am events will take place Monday through Wednesday with four tournament rounds set for Thursday through Sunday.
