The changes are now so fast that it is going to change a lot more than any of us are able to gauge. The next five years when Indian Prime minister has an aim of making India as 5 trillion-dollar economy, we all have a lot to learn, change and develop. ‘India Interior Retailing 2019’, in its first mega edition, the event has already become a large forum where more than 100 people have expressed their willingness to talk, share and grow together.

When a businessman plans anything, the calculations, investment & profit drive his action. But when crazy and passionate people do something, they just move with passion without slightest hint of hard work or profit-loss. They only depend on INTENT, HARDWORK & BLESSINGs. I have only these things in abundance with me on the new journey named “India Interior Retailing.” The pain of seeing my friends in retail & wholesale, their struggle to find a clear roadmap, juggling between value, volumes and competition pushed me to conduct surveys and studies on interior product consumption patterns and consumer behaviour. The impact of income level, education, demography, class, society, digitalization and aspiration is continuously changing the market dynamics and so in retail and wholesale activity. This year we have 50 plus speakers, panelists & jury who are going to share their experiences and views with the retail, wholesale, designer and architect community so that knowledge and learning can have a wider reach to all cities, all segment of people, especially to those who are hungry and willing to grow genuinely with honest mindset. The IIR is designed in such a way that you can choose to stay in conference hall for the topics you wish to learn about, or you can network people who have come with similar mindset of learning. I thank all those supporting brands who have come along to support this motive without even calculating their benefits against the spent at IIR. It is already a success because you all have given us-the entire Ply Reporter & Surfaces team an unconditional support which is possible only due to INTENT, HARDWORK & BLESSINGs. If we make any mistake, I firmly know we have so many hands and support that it will turn into a beautiful reality one day. We welcome you all in IIR 2019, Lets Grow Togeather,

Thrilling, AdvenTurous, Joyful Journey To iir

The wood panel decorative surfaces and interior segment retail really need such a platform to grow. Few of the established retail shop don’t think, that a conclave can really be helpful in knowing something new, but there are 60 % people who believed the cause, and are looking forward to either attend or waiting for more updates, if they are not able to come to NSIC Okhla on 11th& 12th October.

India Interior Retailing (IIR) thought is very powerful, because it is basically conceptualized around creating an environment of learning, new knowledge and experience sharing of the successful people from different domain. Initially it was thought to be a risky idea because a normal perception is ‘wood panel trade and retail’ want to know only about cheap sourcing but slowly moving forward, we found that it is not true, there are few, if not many, who have hunger to learn new things. The entire team of Ply Reporter and Surface Reporter magazines worked hard to make this mission, as a successful Forum, which we could dedicate to this growing Interior- Exterior trade community. And we are confident that our team would be able to do this successfully with their passion and skill. In this journey when our team of 20 people travelled every city, town, state on different levels including myself, we realized that we are doing the most right thing as IIR, which a media can do in this segment with their passion and limited resource. This magazine is being published 10 days prior IIR due to fix date policy but we are confidant to have many of the hungry and focused trade, retail and wholesale people joining and supporting IIR 2019. Those who are coming, I am sure they will go back with good inputs that will help them to grow in Interior product retailing domain in their respective regions and states. We all as Ply Reporter team has taken up the mission to bring knowledge and needed trend setting ideas to retailer community and we believe, you all are supporting us already. During last 3 months, In ‘Apni Baat’ I have wrote more on IIR through this column but I know, we are building a whole package here to give you in a bundle. The Ply Reporter present issue contains ‘well-studied cover story on ‘IS MDF REPLACING PLYWOOD?’ This report will indicate myths related plywood and MDF. A thought full interaction with Mr. Pawan Garg, MD, Alstone Industries on present ‘Slowdown and Delay Payment’ scenario is worth read for entire industry and trade. The interview with Mr. Shobhan Mittal, CEO, Greenpanel is helping to know the vision and further plan of this new Brand Greenpanel. Besides, many news reports related to Face Veneer, Plywood, Laminates, MDF, Timber, etc along with many happening in the trade and industry are published. Once again welcome to IIR on 11th October, NSIC Grounds, Okhla, New Delhi.

Liner is the savior of Laminates in sLowdown phase

D

NEWS WATCH

uring last quarter July-Sept has not been very favorable for the laminate industry. Resulting majority of laminate manufacturers in Gujarat and North have been reported to increase the production of liner grade laminate. According to an estimate, India consumes roughly around a crore of liner laminates sheets every month. During slowdown this approximate number has a little bit increased because everybody is pushing liner grade and due to this development the prices in liner segment has contracted by 3 to 4%.

36

As per market report, average prices of liner laminates have been found around Rs 240 plus GST, which was around Rs 260 plus GST last year. The reason for this contraction was the favorable prices of chemicals, which laminate manufacturers, have been passing to supplies of liner laminate. The rise in liner laminate is also due to demands coming from Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan and some other neighboring countries and the demand pushing up in rural areas within the country is also helping the rise of liner laminates. The Ply Reporter regular study already had mentioned six months before that out of 300 HPL manufacturing units, more than 100 units are basically running their plants on the basis of liner laminates supplies. Experts say, “Due to rise in competition in decorative laminate category let see how long this trend will continue. It is certain that in coming months laminate prices will witness further competition and pressure. Let see when the bigger players will root out the smaller players, and who are the smaller players, waiting for that condition during 2020.

For the First time in india, Greenpanel mdF introduces a larGer and more economical 8’ X 6’ size boards

Mr. Shobhan Mittal, MD & CEO, Greenpanel Industries Limited

Mr Shobhan Mittal by virtue of his sharp business acumen, vision and conviction forayed into the MDF business against all odds. He has successfully brought about a sea change in the mindset of people to accept MDF in India. It is his vision and conviction that has revolutionized the interior infrastructure market with MDF. He currently serves as the Managing Director & CEO of Greenpanel Industries Limited.

The Ply RePoRTeR october 2019

We have steadily enhanced our operational efficiency to ensure that the capacities were optimally utilised throughout the year. We have also implemented a rational cost structure to instill a culture of zero tolerance to wastage. At the same time, we are empowering our people through various training initiatives to build a dependable talent pool for the future.

As a part of the transformative strategy, we created a new brand and a new logo that reflects our renewed vigour and commitment to take on newer challenges, while building on our strengths as a pioneer and industry builder. We are now known as Greenpanel Industries Ltd. The new identity stems from G & P merging together to form an infinity. The logo symbolises, infinite future possibilities in wood panelling. The use of the colour green, embodies growth, prosperity, sustainability and harmony. What were the major challenges that you faced at the beginning? When we forayed into the MDF business, the knowledge and acceptance of MDF in India was extremely limited. We had to demystify a lot of myths associated with MDF. The carpenters, who are essentially the primary consumers of MDF were not skilled to use it and completely ignorant about the versatility of this wonder product. It’s a creative product, which is full of goodness and is applicable in hundreds of spaces. It’s still a challenge and we are committed to create a unique ecosystem for this material. Is the decision bringing outcomes as expected or more than what was expected? How has the brand been faring so far? We also launched Plywood, Veneers and Doors under the Greenpanel brand name. In a very short period of time, we have been able to position Greenpanel in the minds of the customers as the go-to brand for all interior infrastructure needs. With an enviable product portfolio that encompasses MDF, Wood Floors, Plywood, Veneers

and Doors, and a capacity of approximately 6 lacs cubic meter, we are clearly positioned as India’s Largest Wood Panel Manufacturer. We have been identifying high potential markets and accordingly sharpening strategies, resource allocation and expansion plans. We have enhanced our outreach across cities, towns and villages through bespoke branding and marketing initiatives. We are engaging more with architects, carpenters, and key market influencers to enhance product awareness. We have steadily enhanced our operational efficiency to ensure that the capacities were optimally utilised throughout the year.
