Inishmore, Ireland | 2023

Revit | Lumion | Photoshop | Illustrator

The competition focused on designing a house for a hypothetical couple that would rely solely on natural daylight within the home, examining how daylight influences the design approach.

The floor plan revolves around a central courtyard, which serves as the focal point, with all functions placed around it.

Strategically placed skylights are covered with water to distort the sunlight.

Bieszczady mountains, Poland | 2024

Revit | Lumion | Photoshop | Illustrator | Daylight Visualiser

The project focused on analysing and subsequently enhancing the quality of natural irradiation. Through the utilization of Revit lighting plug-in and Velux Daylight Visualizer, simple and efficient solutions were identified. The entire house aims to improve the circadian rhythm of the user by minimizing artificial light and accessing daylight in accordance with the inhabitant’s daily schedule.

sDA - spatial Daylight Autonomy [%] - a yearly metric that describes the percent of space that receives sufficient daylight. This analysis type is a precise metric that must meet the required parameters in order to determine the building’s daylight performance.

DF - Daylight Factor [%] - expresses the amount of daylight available inside a room compared to the amount of unobstructed daylight available outside under overcast sky (worst conditions).

Illuminance [lux] clear sky- the total luminous flux incident on a surface, per unit area. It is a measure of how much the incident light illuminates the surface, wavelength-weighted by the luminosity function to correlate with human brightness perception.

The building is situated within a dense urban context, with its front facing Park de Gaulle. Its architectural form enhances the street corner, making it more inviting and open to the public. The facade adheres to a regular pattern, with steel mesh elements adding to privacy. Green, semi-private terraces encourage social interaction among inhabitants. Additionally, the ground floor, housing services, is visually distinguished by its black colour, giving the impression of the building floating above.
