Q: What does being an active citizen mean to you?

I encourage everyone to be an active citizen, for me, volunteering over many years with St John Ambulance SA, Rotary and on local school governing councils is how I engage as an active citizen.

Mayor Glenn Docherty 0413 219 868

Ward One.

Ward one covers the suburbs of Angle Vale, Buckland Park, Virginia, Eyre, Penfield, Penfield Gardens, MacDonald Park, Andrews Farm and Smithfield Plains; and part of the suburbs of Edinburgh North and Waterloo Corner.

Donating your time to community groups and organisations such as Playford Women’s Shed and Cos We Care is an opportunity to get to know your community. You can make long lasting friendships and hand out food to those in need.

Cr Cathy-Jo Tame | 0478 283 875

crcjtame@playford.sa.gov.au It means giving my time to help others and not expect anything in return, being involved in various local community groups and advocating on their behalf to secure better services. It also means being a part of local community events and sporting clubs.

Cr Peter Rentoulis (Deputy Mayor) 0417 016 146

crarentoulis@playford.sa.gov.au Being involved in sporting clubs, resident associations or charity organisations is important. This builds community connections and assists with providing much needed services to the more broader community. Nothing better than being involved and giving back.

Ward Two. Ward two covers the suburbs of Munno Para Downs, Munno Para West, Munno Para, Smithfield and Blakeview; and part of the suburb of Hillier.

It’s about what one values in life. I intentionally got involved in a local church and social groups / events and intentionally looked for ways I can be of assistance in the delivery of the service in a consistent safe manner to better the lives of the community.

Cr Jane Onuzans | 0432 251 207

creonuzans@playford.sa.gov.au Being an active citizen means being engaged with your Elected Members, Council and local community organisations, groups and clubs such as Rotary, Lions, etc.

Cr Stephen Coppins | 0478 283 876

crscoppins@playford.sa.gov.au Being an active citizen allows me to have my finger on the pulse of what is happening in my community. This occurs because I am a Councillor, Justice of the Peace and a Rotarian. I am in touch with the residents in my community.

Cr Gay Smallwood-Smith 0417 016 163

crgsmallwoodsmith@playford.sa.gov.au

I love joining in community activities together with friends at church and our youth group - encouraging faith and hope and building a positive future for folk across Playford.

Cr Andrew Craig | 0417 016 160

cracraig@playford.sa.gov.au While there are many in our community that tirelessly help out others from the goodness of their heart, it’s small acts of kindness from many that build Playford into being strong and united. From waving to your neighbour to helping out at your children’s local sporting club.

Cr Veronica Gossink | 0478 283 878

crvgossink@playford.sa.gov.au To me it means being part of your community, actively engaging with fellow residents and local organisations. A healthy community is an inclusive one where people come together for the greater good and contribute actively to achieve positive outcomes.

Ward four covers the suburbs of Davoren Park, Elizabeth North, Elizabeth, Elizabeth South and Elizabeth Vale; and part of the suburb of Edinburgh North.

Through volunteering with organisations in Playford over many years, it has given me the opportunity build friendships, meet the wonderful diverse residents we have in our City and assist them where possible.

Ward Five. Ward five covers the suburbs of Elizabeth Downs, Elizabeth Park, Elizabeth East and Elizabeth Grove; and part of the suburb of Craigmore.

It means being involved in local sports, as a player and supporter. Attending public events, expanding networks, advising people on services and groups. It is being welcoming and meeting many wonderful, diverse Playford residents.

Cr Misty Norris | 0478 283 882

crmnorris@playford.sa.gov.au I have volunteered in the community since I was 18 years old with community organisations such as Scouts, Rotary Club of Elizabeth and the Playford Christmas Pageant. There are many opportunities to volunteer in any capacity you can - everyone is welcome.

Cr Shirley Halls | 0419 866 872

crshalls@playford.sa.gov.au I have been involved with many local sporting groups such as the Stebonheath Parkrun and Craigmore Cricket Club not only to improve my physical and social well-being, but also to contribute and give back to our community through volunteering.
