Q: What has been your most rewarding role and why?

We all play different roles in our community – business owner, employee, volunteer, homemaker, caregiver, mentor, coach etc. Find out what our Elected Members consider to be their most rewarding roles. I have many rewarding roles in my life from being a father to two beautiful daughters, Mayor of the City of Playford and a volunteer with many different organisations.

Mayor Glenn Docherty 0413 219 868

mayordocherty@playford.sa.gov.au

Ward One.

Ward one covers the suburbs of Angle Vale, Buckland Park, Virginia, Eyre, Penfield, Penfield Gardens, MacDonald Park, Andrews Farm and Smithfield Plains; and part of the suburbs of Edinburgh North and Waterloo Corner.

The most rewarding role is to be able to give back to the community with an inclusive vision so that everyone can enjoy the surroundings within the City of Playford area.

Cr Cathy-Jo Tame | 0478 283 875

crcjtame@playford.sa.gov.au Being an Elected Member! Going out to see residents in person is always very rewarding for me. This is because residents get my full attention and see first-hand that I am engaged by their issues and genuinely care.

Cr Peter Rentoulis (Deputy Mayor) 0417 016 146

crarentoulis@playford.sa.gov.au Privileged to have been a Captain for the Dalkeith SA CFS for four years. Volunteering as a professional fire fighter has allowed me to further expand my skills and knowledge in the fire industry, resulting in employment as a fire fighter.

Cr Clint Marsh | 0478 283 874

Ward Two. Ward two covers the suburbs of Munno Para Downs, Munno Para West, Munno Para, Smithfield and Blakeview; and part of the suburb of Hillier.

Motherhood! Like many other mums the journey to raise children is the most rewarding but also the hardest. You get into it with no training and no licence. I’m proud I was able to hold my family intact during and after the big challenges. It’s so important to keep family safe and comfortable.

Cr Jane Onuzans | 0432 251 207

creonuzans@playford.sa.gov.au Volunteering in the community has been most rewarding to me. I’ve had several varying roles as a volunteer in Playford from a driver at the Grenville Hub to being a Justice of the Peace, it’s a pleasure to engage with various members of the community and helping achieve the desired outcomes.

Cr Stephen Coppins | 0478 283 876

crscoppins@playford.sa.gov.au Definitely Elected Member! It gives me the opportunity to assist residents in many ways, not just council issues. I’ve been a Justice of the Peace for 27 years in Playford, and I’m also a long-term member of Rotary - roles which allow me to assist people in need.

Cr Gay Smallwood-Smith 0417 016 163

As a born again Christian, being part of a local church family is a great blessing for me. In the Bible I find answers for life’s questions and can share the hope and meaning Jesus brings. The local church is a community within a community and brings rewards both now and forever.

Cr Andrew Craig | 0417 016 160

cracraig@playford.sa.gov.au Although I am a career woman and enjoy being a kindergarten teacher, by far the most rewarding role is my family. Mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunty and recently Oma, family means the world to me. Strong family networks are essential to a strong and healthy community.

Cr Veronica Gossink | 0478 283 878

crvgossink@playford.sa.gov.au My most rewarding role is being a father and doing my best to ensure my children grow up to be caring and compassionate adults with the skills to succeed. Professionally, it was as a business owner working with a fantastic team learning the keys to running a successful business.

Cr David Kerrison | 0478 283 879

My involvement in volunteering! Being a member of the Playford Community Fund, Playford Womens Shed, sporting and community organisations has enabled me to support and assist many residents. Experiencing the diversity in our city is personally very rewarding.

Ward Five. Ward five covers the suburbs of Elizabeth Downs, Elizabeth Park, Elizabeth East and Elizabeth Grove; and part of the suburb of Craigmore.

Being a teacher in the local community is my most rewarding role. I have the opportunity to engage with and develop young minds and our new leaders of tomorrow. A very rewarding job, with many hours, but one that inspires me to learn from them as much as they do from me.

Cr Misty Norris | 0478 283 882

crmnorris@playford.sa.gov.au My community service! Helping to ensure wellbeing and access to relaxing activities and pathways to find employment within the City of Playford is so rewarding. Encouraging small business to expand and take on more employees, connecting small business with others who are educating their future employees.

Cr Shirley Halls | 0419 866 872

crshalls@playford.sa.gov.au

Coaching the under 12 team at Northern District Cricket Club. I enjoy working with young people and helping players develop new skills, with bat and ball, and also work as part of a team while building leadership skills. Sport is a great way to teach young people life skills and help them build confidence while being active.
